Chaps

For those that don't have luggage for the trip yet and are undecided about what to get, have a look at the latest RIDE mag as they have done a product test on soft luggage.

Sam~all I can say is that I used my mates Oxford stuff last year

when I went down to Valencia and they did the job (and they didn't fly off!) hence my purchase of the same kit at Ally Pally this year.
Simon~ In respect of throw-over panniers, RIDE recommends the Givi T421 voyager bags, 25 out of 29 and the Oxford Humpback bags 27/29. The Oxford jobs are ?99 and the Givi's are ?80. You'll probably be able to get 'em both about ?70 at the BMF, which is what I paid at Ally Pally.

What d'ya pay for the indicator lenses Reefer and d'ya still want that bit of kit we spoke about last night?

hmm this little faces are pretty cool but there so small you dont know what they are until you postR#?
im still waiting to find out about the bit joe
the guy said the indicators were 6.95 i think a pair but i got them and an mot and a r/angle tyre valve for 20 quid..which i thought was cheap!

they look pretty copol and also come with clear lenses and orange bulbs so you can fit either the black or clear..or change em to confuse peeps lol

errr when is the BMF?

Si~BMF 17th/18th May 2003

Probably organise a rideout for the event. Might even be a good opportunity to get all those going to Spain for a rideout :dunno: Test out the Sat Nav, Radios, oh and make sure there is no repeat of low flying luggage

ok guys its offical!
just done a cornwall and back trip on the baby..with full geodesy and gps rigged up..worked a treat and its still on the bike!
also took her up to 150mph..could have gone more but bloody cars getting in the way..that A303 is a serious road..you can see all the bends etc and found myself at somepoints hitting 120 round the bends:eek:
can also report back ..chicken strips are gone from me new 020 rear:bow: ..in fact coming outta some of the bends off the roundabouts i wish she had more poke in her as i was givving it full throttle ouuta the bends off the roundabout and felt she could have taken even more!
confidence just went from like 5 to 100% this weekend..mind you it is the first time ive taken it on a decent run in decent weather
gotta say it really was a good ride..the bird done everything i asked of it with ease..real pleasure on the open roads..and im not even knackered after 5 hours..and even went up to bedford yesterday morning, then back here and off to cornwall like an hour later..no probs
found out how to over come the flapping jackets on the sholders over 120mph!...wear a rucksack, it keeps the sholders down lol..so simple but effective
kicked some zxr750 asses..seven of then in cornwall, also kicked the ass of fazor 1000s..3 of them....and if your one of the 3 birds on the A303 at about 5:30..that blur going past you was a red one..cos you were all riding slow colours PMSL

sam you taking your garmin with you?

i wont mention the near miss with a road sign at 130mph..in the dark which left me going down a duel carriage way the wrong way..in the middle of fucking nowere..but i guess if there wasnt a near miss then i didnt push it hard enough..made me stop for a few minutes and think that was nearly it tho LOL

I'm debating whether to or not Reefer. I use it all the time in the car and I recently upgraded the MapSource software to v5. I've re-programmed the data card so that it now stores everything from Watford Gap down to our final destination Cambrils in street level detail................however, I've only ridden with it a couple of times and I find it a major distraction.................

I am also feeling that whilst the unit is no doubt awesomely accurate and a neccesity for me in the motor round London, I think that on our trip to Spain it may kinda take away that sense of being a bit of a 'pioneer' if you know what I mean....................

I'm undecided at the moment. So how did the RAM mount perform? And did you have the voice prompting working in your lid OK?

i havent rigged it up to the lid yet as i didnt have time before the cornwall trip:rolleyes:
the mount works well although i did have to machine up an ali block to get it to fit right..see my pic in the what have you done to your bike forum

got me right to the door in sunny cornwall no probs and back home too..which was a result, and i didnt even take a map along:yo:

the headset will work ok as ive mucked about with it at home..although over a ton you wont be able to hear much i rekon..same goes for the radios..but what do you expect at those speeds lol

i found the unit to be ditracting like around london but you dont really need to keep looking at it on a run so it was pretty cool really
same goes for the geodesy..works real cool at night time when you cant see the gatsos as the red leds come on and you notice them strieght away!

only prob i found with the garmin was i couldnt expand the tank bag as it blocks the view of the unit
