Gentlemen ( I would say ladies but our lady members are def not the folk I am trying to reach with this post LOL !!)

This week we have had three newish members up sticks and leave

Looking at their reception I am hardly surprised

This is not something new either, but something that has been going on for about a year now.. Peeps joining,, trying to get a toe hold and being kicked in the balls by apparently nasty remarks

Whilst a good many of the posts could be said to be tongue in cheek they look like they are just rude, nasty and quite frankly unwelcoming

Most of the posters are old school and are very familiar with each other and the way this ere' forum goes..

Not one of you would I like to lose as you are the cement that holds it all together and makes it such a fookin crazy place to be !

I would ask though, that those new to the forum are given a bit of a break.. let em settle in.. let em come to terms with being a member of a forum that is infested with evil minded bastards :-0)

Let them start to join in a bit rather than trying to stamp on their necks the moment they join

Two of those who have left simply said the whole site revolved around a little group of folk who obviously think they are special, the third left because of receiving virtually nothing bar abuse.. and having looked back I can fully understand what has been said

I know you lot are harmless and do not mean to be dickheads ( with one or two notable exceptions ) but the only thing a lot of newby's see is unfunny snotty, catty, childish remarks..

I found it a bit 'in yer face' when I joined about a year ago. I almost left but I realised that you're all c**ts so I just adapted. I have seen some newbies slaughtered recently though and thought it was a getting a bit out of hand. This is a good site where you can get a lot of help and have a laugh too so if any newbies are reading this take these gits with a bit tongue in cheek and then once you have weighed em up give as good as you get @tu*

Lumpy, I can only hope that your reply was p1ss-taking - otherwise how can you assume that anyone new is "diluting the quaility", let alone the huge conceit in the unsaid supposition that anyone that's been on here for a while is by definition "quality". I'm not.

I'm with John completely on this - being rude and driving away new starters is neither big nor clever, they should be given a chance to get their feet under the table. If they then turn out to be dicks, and god forbid are "diluting the quaility", give them the grief they deserve. But not until they've had a chance.

I think allot of it depends on the way you interpret what's written. True, if you put a smiley after a sentence, that can defuse it to look like a bit of fun. But if you're the sensitive type, not sure how you are going to survive. Your point is taken though John, some remarks have been a bit cutting, but then surley, newbee or not, it's up to them to defend themselves, as long as it's done with out malice, or being too personal. Those of us on here, I think can forget that throwing insults at each other can put newbees off...but hey shit happens. Not sure what the answer is, perhaps you should vet them first..........do you have a s.o.h, are you thick skinned as well, can you take one for the forum...something like that. :-0)

BIRD has always been self regulating and as long as I am around always will be.
Just look at the replies to this thread. It really demonstrates what a well balanced group of folk we are lucky enough to have as members..

Every now and then things tend to wander off a bit.. Sometimes they self right and sometimes someone says something.. Might be me, might be another member ( or another member putting me in line cos I have been a wanker over something )

Never once since its inception has BIRD needed anything more than a very very light hand to either mod or admin and that's how it should be.. and that is, as far as I am concerned how it should be and will be..
