Northern Cloggers Social ~NOT A RIDEOUT~

** The idea of this social event is to allow partners who don't ride as pillion, to come along and meet with the group that their partners ride-out with, and for us ALL to have a good time. So leave the bike at home (unless you really want to party on two wheels) and make the most of this event.**

Dates - Now confirmed as 24th January 2004

Venue - Now confirmed
Following some wishes to see Blackpool, (why??) we've booked the Headlands Hotel, which is at the South Shore end of the promenade (south of the Pleasure Beach)

Rooms will be available from 13:00 on the day, with check-out the following morning by 10:00.

Food - a 6 (yes six!!) course meal with choice off the menu. Special meals - lettuce, boiled rice, steamed fish is available (compulsory) for all BLOATERS.

Dinner is at 7pm prompt - to allow time for the entertainment afterwards. Suggest that we all meet in the bar, no later than 6:30pm.

Entertainment - with no expense spared, a singer/comedian. (actually he's f.o.c. and not too rude)

Cost - ?47.50 per person, for dinner, bed breakfast and entertainment. A dinner (and entertainment) price will be available for anyone not wanting to stay over.

The delectable Mrs Murt ( Sandra) and myself think its a brill idea, Its her burfday on 17th Jan ( but for some unknown reason she has started counting backwards). Any other date is ok..
Any type of food ( but I am partial to a sitdown rather than a buffet)

Any location ( Blackpool is cheap in January).

Any type of entertainment . ( I dont personally disco any more, but Im a good watcher!)

By the way Just had a ride out with IAM group (30Bikes Divided into2 groups) done the barny to alston run plus a bit more Approx 260 Mile but have to say did'nt enjoy the day as much as bank holiday ride out with the cloggers.

Update

Plans are progressing........

Date There was one objection to Jan 17th, so we are planning on Jan 24th.

Venue A few peeps liked the sounds of Blackpool, so we're currently in negotiations with a hotel which has a swimming pool, and a pub attached (as well as the house bar).

Food The hotel does a table d'hote menu, but we are seeing if they can do us a 'good deal' for a meal with a choice of 2-3 starters, main course and sweets.

Entertainment Still working on it, but there may be some in the ajoining pub.

As most peeps have indicated that they would be 'staying over' (it allows everyone to have a drink) and to give us more room to negotiate a good room-rate for a block booking, can anyone who does not wish to stay over let us know.

Please can we come too? If so, we would like to stay over (and it sounds like our 'usual' B&B in Lytham may be closed for staff jollies that weekend .....) and think a 'sit down' sounds good.

As for entertainment, we'll go with the flow, as they say! (unfortunately I seem to have got to a funny age where I find my ability to scream at my friends over the noise of the disco has somewhat waned ..... I have no idea how that could have happened!!! - but it does tend to impair my enjoyment of such events!) (I reckon there's a lot of people like me - why else would the kitchen be so popular at parties?)

So please count us in, if you would be so kind.

Update 24/9/03

Good and bad news......

Many Blackpool hotels are either closed in January OR will not do a one night accomadation at weekends.

One hotel that we had originally thought was suitable has now fallen through. We have been recommended another and the details are shown below.

Dinner, bed & breakfast - ?47.50 per person. (this is with a small group discount)

6 course meal (soup/juice, choice of entree, choice of main course, choice of sweets, cheese & biscuits, coffee)
Full english breakfast
All rooms en-suite, tea & coffee making facilities, 24hr bar, games room.
For a group booking they will also include entertainment (singer/comedian)

The alternatives - having looked at other smaller hotels (glorified boarding houses) they have very limited dinner menus (if any),
and are not that much cheaper for a weekend room rate.

What's the views on this price?? Can we have some feedback please.

Do we need to look elsewhere? Unless anyone knows otherwise I doubt whether we can get accomodation/meal/ents all under one roof anywhere else

We have found that we have had to pay about ?30 each B & B in most places that we have stayed at this year in the UK. (apart from one very nice place we stayed at in Lytham this summer) "Home cooked food to die for all locally grown". So the price dosn't seem too bad to us. Just our twopennorth, but if there is entertainment as well it seems to us that we would not do a lot better anywhere else so you can still count us in.

But we are prepared to go along with everyone else's feelings on the matter. We know that it may be a little close after Christmas and pennies may be tighter for some than others.

Pete's comments about the pennies after krimbo, but if you really want to do something, you'll find the money.
I am willing to go into debt (deeper) just to have an evening out with you lot.
