Hi all - yes I am afraid I mean Blackbird - not the wife! ;)

Got sent this way by a member of another forum - just sold my 2006 Kawasaki Z750S (a much loved machine) and have picked up a 2000 Blackbird to replace it. Wasn't sure if the 'Bird was going to be the bike for me but after a 150 mile test ride I didn't want to give it back!

Its a standard 2 owner bike with 11,500 miles on it - it has a Scottoiler with huge remote reservoir and an NWS hugger fitted. The fork legs have some sort of carbon look effect on them which is a little odd but looks better than pitted forks I guess! It also has an iridium screen which I am really not keen on so keep an eye out on eBay as I will be selling it soon and fitting a FFabbri double bubble in light tint I think.

It has Bridgestone BT021 tyres which feel great I have to say - if anyone wants to say whether these are a good 'Bird tyre - feel free :)

Thats enough of the info here are the pics - might add some more when I get the screen and find a nice location.

Didn't pick it up until last night - but here it is resting in its new home :)

Nice bike :yo:

Tip for the double bubble though .... don't get the light tint.

My bike came with light tint Ffabri double-bubble.. the screen itself is great .. but....

the shape causes the instrument pod to melt when strong sunlight gets focused on it by the screen.

get the very dark tint .. I think that's all they sell it in now anyway.

I've tried colouring the lower part of the screen darker. This sort of worked and looks OK (IMHO) but ... I didn't quite go far enough up the screen so it's gone and done it again.

Thanks for the tip - its a shame though as I am not sure a dark screen will suit the bike. My old Kawasaki had a melt mark on the dash from the sun doing just that through the OE screen! I have been given the original Honda screen which I fitted this evening - its scratched from the original owners over-zealous polishing! Looks so much better than the iridium one though so that's going on eBay on Sunday night!

Bike looks great.....On the subject of tyres........Mine came with BT020s (beware that there are several specs of BT020 and only 1 is specifically for the Bird). Anyway, I thought they seemed really good (compared to using BT020s on my Triumph Sprint). I went to my friendly, bike tyre specialist (who is also a racer (KTM RC8) and asked for his recommendation.....His best mate has a Bird and they both said that Avon Storm ST rear and Viper Sport front were the best combo they had ever tried............so I had them fitted (?210) and 200 miles later, well, these are just in a different league to any other bike/tyre combo i've recently had (eg Triumph Sprint (BT020), Daytona 955i (Pirelli Diablo ...these were good) BMW GS (Metz Tourance...not bad at all) Suzuki SV (Metz Z6)...never gave confidence/feedback.......Anyway I would recommend the Avons....42psi front and rear.

Heard good things about the 'Storms from other people too.

Without having the manual in front of me - is 42psi front and rear the standard pressures? Sounds a bit high on the front??

Nice bike Sk!p (and the best colour too :yo: )

Ref tyres: rogerc is spot on, Avon Storm rear/Viper front is bloody awsome (and the tyre pressure is right too)
