My Blackbird story..

I like that your putting so much time and energy into this.

A question though if I may? I understand the carb has a very small flat spot around the 3-3.5 rev range? so for that purpose I can understand if it annoys you then getting it sorted makes sense.

I may well be wrong here, but it seems after all the work done and all the cash spent the graph shows only 2bhp extra? Given the bird doesn't run like a pig as standard is all the effort worth it?

I may upset a few here and I truly apologise but I found the best money spent to make you go faster tends to be a mixture of track days and i.a.m. Having done a few of both I found I think clearer (not on here obviously) travel safer, faster and without spending a single penny on the bike.

I am genuinely interested

Hi Noobie. As i said earlier on in the thread, i fitted the 4-1 mainly because my original downpipes were rotten. I prefer the look of a 4-1 myself and also the reduction in weight which also helps improve handling/acceleration and braking. The small overall gain in power actaully translates into a massive difference in rideability (at the lower rev range as shown in the graph) Overall power of the Bird is not something which is lacking in most situations as far as i am concerned.

I agree 100% that riding skills will always outweigh any bolt on mods. I have done a fair bit of training and a number of track days including the California Superbike School. What i will say is that increasing the skill of the rider makes any mods more useable. Ulimately very few riders can get anywhere near the capability of the bikes they ride, especially not the new breed of sports bikes. eg Blade, BMW S1000RR, though i'd love to try!

I have attached a report of my last assessed ride which was with a Police Class 1 rider.

I am very suspicious of the general comments on your rider assessment form either you printed that yourself or someone was definitely was trying to get into your leathers....:-0)

I love that too. Hopefully i can get one of those for mine. Although I have promised the brakes are my last mod. New pic coming later.

Yesterday i took delivery of 2 nice Brembo boxes. One containing the RCS19 Brake Master Cylinder below, unfortunately the other one contained exactly the same instead of the RCS16 Clutch M/C. Its all coming together a bit at a time and i'm just awaiting the RCS16, my brake and clutch lines and the caliper plates, then its game on!

Most interesting read. Can I ask if the white outlines on your wheels are those 'stick-on' strips available from an auction site? If so, might get some myself, they highlight the wheel nicely @tu*

The wheel you are talking about is not mine, it is someone from another site and is showing how the brakes will look once finished. I think the rim is just white rim tape. If you look carefully you can see the join.

Rick, have you got a picture of the left hand calliper (Brembo) fitted, curious as to the look of the brembo plates with the secondary m/c cyl.

I have a radial Brembo master cyl on my track bike that Im thinking of putting on the bird. I think they will be a major improvement over stock....

Only downside for me is the looks, remote res, but if your changing the pair, no problem @tu*@tu*

very nice job btw:bow:

Try this site - www.awesomegraphics.co.uk. I've bought two sets from them so far, originally through Ebay. One orange set for the wife's CBR125 and then a white set when she upgraded to a Ninja 250R, both sets are plain colour reflective, although they do lettering on the strips, too.
You get a set of four "quarter" wheel strips per side plus a couple of spares for each wheel. Easy to put on. @tu*

When I get mine fitted I'll show pics of the full set up. I am still waiting for some bits to arrive.

Here is a pic of the left side. As i said before this is not my bike but you get the idea. Mine will obviusly be standard ally colour but you can see how the calipers fit. Though i'm hoping he tightened the mounting bolts up first not to mention the wheel spindle!

He's obviously not fitted linked brakes . I may be wrong , but I would imagine it would be impossible when using Brembo's

you are correct, to use the Brembos they need to be delinked, which is not a problem for most people who are doing this mod. Maybe i misunderstood the original question regarding this. Either way that is what the finished article looks like... hopefully mine will be similar!
