So, in summary, today it is an £80,000 motorhome..

Fact.
Firstly, sentences do not start with “so”.
Secondly, if you are willing to pay £15,000 extra for something then be my guest, personally I would wait until the price drops again, watch this space there will be so many motorhomes for sale after covid that this £65k to £80k rip off will probably be £55k.
Thirdly, stating “fact” does not make it so, unless I say it in which case it is a fact, fact.

Sos (supposition, in plural), if it is £80k today then that’s what it is.

You will have paid £2,995 (only a dribbling loon would have paid more) for your Dishcloth (copyright Pow-Lo ), it is today worth £4.50 so it is a £4.50 value Today.

Facts.

Plural.

Many consumer items, motorhomes being a good example, are on the rise because of demand, similarly rural housing is rising faster than urban. There are those that will take advantage of punters willing to be fleased and good luck to them. If we all resist the urge to pay over the odds the prices must come down. I fear items like building materials will stay high even when supplies return to normal.

The reason BMW’s are expensive is because vain morons are happy to lose £20,000 as they drive off the forecourt

They, along with other prestige manufacturers, make quality cars and the driving experience you get from a new one will be the same in 150,000 miles time, whereas some cheaper brands will be less so, there is a caveat, modern manufacturing technology is making all car makers look good.
From experience my new BMW was far nicer to drive than my 19 year old Mercedes and that was nicer than Mrs johnboys new ish Renault.

As a point of order, it was the fat Spanish waiter (Rafa Benitez) that immortalised ‘fact’ as being fact during his infamous rant at your hero, Sir Alex Ferguson. Fact. andyBeaker and me have since ensured that the legend lives on (although Beaks tends to lose interest for a few years at a time). Fact.

You have no entitlement to the use of ‘fact’. Fact. Find your own silly word that’s been immortalised by a famous Yorkshireman, or something.

What johnboy said.

I would go a little further and add that BMWs are the best ‘drivers’ cars that I’ve ever had, and I include Mrs P’s two as well as my own two.

I would rather buy a smaller BM, like a 1 Series, than have a high end other brand like Ford or something.

I would go a step further and (probably correctly) assume that your 19 year old Merc would drive better than a new Dacia Dishcloth.

Nothing wrong with the way Dacias drive, for the money possibly the best car on the road, if my vanity overrode my common sense then I could easily spend £60 - £70k on a car, if I were to do that it would be a Jag every time, spend £60k on a car that is going to lose me shit loads of money or buy a field that’s increasing in value every day, no brainer.
Point in case, bought a field ten years ago at auction for £15k, over the ten years we have spent about £12k on stables, fencing etc, it’s now worth over £85k, also it looks like we may get planning permission as the owners of the next field have permission to build a recording studio with a large car park.

There's no apostrophe after BMW in the context of your sentence. Your sentence indicates plural of BMW, therefore the correct wording is 'BMWs'. What you have written is an abbreviation of 'BMW is', which is incorrect. As usual.

Facts.

Why would you want to build a recording studio and car park in your field just because your neighbours have?

But isn't a Jag a Mondeo in disguise.

My nephew is picky about cars and opted for the Mondeo a few years back. He has a Seat suv type thing now.
Company cars of his chosing.

A cop I know reckons Mondeo was best car they had, mind you others weren't great to start with.

I don't have any interest in big cars and don't do much long distance driving.

The "Market" is what people will pay.
"Value" is individual and depends on the perceptions/need/wishes of the purchaser.

The market need have no relationship to cost etc. In some products there may be an automoatic mark-up calculated.

The normal way for a company/individual to operate is to ensure that they can manufacture/obtain the product at a price below what they can sell for.
They then maximise profit by selling at the highest price/volume that gives them the best return.

Many years ago when peeps were sourcing cheaper vehicles from European suppliers for import into the UK someone from Ford was being interviewed and challenged on R4 about this.
The interviewer asked him to explain why people were able to buy Ford cars in another country and bring them to the UK cheaper than buying off the forecourt in the UK.
In the lead up there was comment by the interviewer about it being the same cars from the same factory so why could they cost differing amounts to buy in different countries.

The Ford chappie very neatly said "our objective is to maximise profit. We price vehicles based on what we estimate the market will pay, not by adding on a percentage to the manufacturing cost. As a result different markets will have different prices. If we get it right we maximise profit, if we don't we suffer."

The interview sort of fizzled out at that point as I think the inteview was wrong footed.

So a BMW, motorhome or even a Dacia may all cost the same to build.
But demand, brand perception, availability of supply etc all affect price.

Imagine how much you might have got Boeing to sell you a 737-max for for six months after they'd all been grounded :)

No it most definitely isn't! The ill fated and ill judged x type shared some components with the Mondeo and it was utter crap.

Nobody makes a car that drives like a Jaguar. They are the dogs bollocks. Fact.

I understood the X type was the mondeo floorpan/chassis and running gear with the rest by Jaguar.

I do like the older Jaguars - I used to have an XJ6, the last of the straight six engines and traditional round twin headlamps, just before they changed the engine type.

I don't care for the newer Jaguar saloons, they're just another modern saloons in my view, lost the traditional link with the past which I felt was important.
To me I liked being able to look at mine and recognise a link to the shape I recalled when growing up.

I was merely reducing my level to that of a BMW’s owner.

I'd be curious to see how one of the smaller Beemers handle in comparision to my RX8, which is still one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever driven in a sporty context.
