Well, things have improved a tiny bit today - Liz has brought me her laptop & a 3g dongle, so at least I can see the feckin screen and get proper tinterweb connection, not to mention being able to type on a proper keypad rather than the poxy pinhead buttons on the phone. Sadly, I can also watch the telly too. It all helps to pass the time.:bang:

Still waiting for a bed, but they're chasing it and I am really hoping they'll operate next week. (I've been in nearly four weeks now, with a brief escape a couple of weekends ago)

I've got a date!

...Not with a nurse with big tits:xm but for the operation.

Next Tuesday 13th (and no, I'm not superstitious (touch wood)). I saw the surgeon on Friday, who said when he could operate, and admitted that the aortic pig's valve I had three years ago came from a faulty batch, and that they had stopped using that particular type of valve. I shall be having another tissue valve (pericardial this time), as I really don't want the complications of warfarin on top of the prednisolone I have to take for the kidney. Just for good measure I'll be having a quadruple bypass as opposed to the triple I was expecting

I was dead chuffed when he said I could have weekend leave, so I'm writing this from home:yo: I shall be going back in at lunchtime.

Walsgrave is still as grim as I remembered - there's a very poor, intermittent mobile signal from by the window, the patient wifi doesn't work, the food's pretty poor etc., so communication is practically impossible unless you pay the exorbitant bedside entertainment fees. But on the bright side at least the nurses wear dresses:lick:
