Yeah well I'll have a cheese toastie with my coffee please if your in the chair m8.

Sorry to hear your woe's Bill does sound like a hiss prob.
Prolly a silly question but do you have a H.T. spark at the plug.
I would go back to basics before starting to check specific components.Find out if it's ignition or fuel system effected.
I think you'll find the Hiss cuts out the fuel system and ignition but not cranking.

Lovely with a mug of hot chocolate at Llandovery. Dream on Smyth! Nope Stan; no chance. Blumeeni... no ignition and no smell of fuel when turning over,so I am heavily into believing it is a Hiss problem. I have done my usual thing of leaping in without thinking the problem through and assumed it was a loom problem. If it stays dry today I will finish off sealing the spare terminal on the loom and taping it up and check the voltages on the tilt switch but I don't think either would stop the Hiss system operating. I just wish anyone who had the loom problem could tell me if it prevented the Hiss from operating! sad day...Sunday,bright and dry and no Blackbird. :violin:

I give up

Loom terminal cleaned and taped above the loom where it's drier. Section 5.8 of the Haynes manual says the honda dealer has a special tool which allows them to read the codes on the Hiss system. So it's off to the Honda dealer in Shrewsbury on a trailer (if I can find one big enough) and hope that it's not the ECU itself. Probably Thurs or Friday. Will keep you all posted. :violin:  :B

Have you cleaned the terminals in the block connector under the seat cowling near the rectifier(coverd in black shrink wrap/pvc tape), These are prone to condensation and cause FI warning lights due to bad electrical connection hence sending a bad signal to the CPU. You must try this!Hope this helps

Spoke to the dealers earlier. Matey couldn't give much info as the fitter who worked on my bike wasn't in and hadn't completed the job card. However there was an entire (old) loom in a box next to the bike which was presumably my old one and the bike seems finished and ready to go. Will have to call Monday morning to find out.

Confirmed with the dealer that my bike is ready.R#? They?ve changed the whole loom and all is well.

However, they do want an hours labour out of me for wiring the indicators in to the GIVI luggage rack.

In all probability I will pay up, as long as they?ve done a tidy job as I'd rather be paying ?45 than ?500, but should I have to? Seems to me that if the Honda loom wasn?t a POS to start with then there would be no need to disconnect my indicators in the first place.

Thoughts please.

glad to hear youve got your bike back m8. can you confirm they changed the whole bike loom and not just the infected part?
i think they should have at least given you a courtesy call and gave you the option of doing the indicatoers yourself but still its good they did it under warranty on a 2000 bike. my mates is a 2002 one, i'll just get him to take it to the dealer, save all the pissing about. which was your local dealer by the way.

Morning,

Don't know about the loom for sure as I won't be collecting the bike until the weekend. Matey just said they have changed the loom and as far as I can tell it's a one piece item. Will post on the weekend when I've had a look.

Dealers is Thunderroad in Bridgend(South Wales). They are pretty good, I've had a few bikes from there in the past with no troubles. As with most dealers the level of service drops a notch once you've handed over your ???'s for a new scoot but thats life I suppose!

..and yes I would have liked a call about the indicators if only to tell them to put in some bullet connectors instead of a hardwire so I can remove the rack when required.Still, all things considered at least it's fixed for not a lot.

Hot News

The bad news is...new loom, new keys, new Hiss transmitter, new ignition barrel, separate key for tank and saddle

The good news is Honda :bow: are doing the lot under warranty. Hooray for Honda. Howmany other companies would accept it under warranty at nearly five ywears. Boy do I feel better. :}
