How many litres to empty

Hi, I ran out of petrol 100 yards before a fuel station on my 2003 FI bird. To fill it up fronm totally empty,, wait for it - 22 litres. Where are my other 2 litres? Tank not dented etc.

Has anyone else found the tank to be too small? Do I have another market (smaller!) tank fitted?

Thanks

Grant

You've not got a tank off a carb model have you, I'm sure they're a couple of litres smaller.

Agree, could be Carb tank... Though I'm doubtful that the pipework would be the same, fuel pump on F1... and,

if you'd been going fast enough you could have coasted 100 yards.

I am not 100% convinced that a carb tank fill fit an FI.:dunno::dunno:

Also thought the FI tank was smaller than carb as well but might be wrong :dunno::dunno::dunno:- it almost happened once before.

Come on you Hatters
Other way round Andy, Fi tank bigger to make up for poorer mpg:xm

And pretty sure they're not interchangeable. I know the Fi has a pump built into the bottom whereas I'd guess the carb one should just have a fuel tap connection.

Did you fill it while it was on the sidestand ? Its amazing how much more fuel you can get in when its on the centre stand :dunno:

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
23 litre capacity?

or
the low-emissions version of the Super
Blackbird features a narrower, ?leadfree-
type? inlet that prevents leaded
fuel from accidentally being added,
which could seriously damage the
exhaust system?s built-in catalyzers.
(This special inlet reduces capacity to 23 litres.)

ah but did they ever bring it out??? was supposed to be coming in 1999, then again in 2001 to germany and Switzerland, then we were supposed to get it in 2002/03.

Also depending what press release you read they also state that the tank was 23L and in the specs it is at 24l and visa versa.

And honda workshop manual states 24l

my xx02 has a small inlet that will only just take an unleaded nozzle.

Bugger, I think I am turning into Silvefox..............

inlet size

wolife,

all I'm saying is according to this, if the tanks got the reduced size inlet for lead free, it reduces the tank capacity to 23L,
yes it is a 24L tank but unable to hold that much if the reducer is fitted.

When you read the press release, the ' low-emissions version' its describing, is the CAT/digi dash version,
the model after the first FI.
It says this will be the only version of the BB available from 2001

but the press release i read said that in 2001 they were going to be introduced to germany and switerland first and then made available to the rest of the world, i then read a 2003 release which stated that yet again they were going to be released in germany and switerland first then the rest of the world, hence me saying did they really coming in ??as i gave up reading about blackbirds then.

And as an a side to lose a litre of volume that is some large reducer they have installed!! when you think to narrow a hole all you have to do is to weld a washer in the top and give it a polish.
