Are you off your High horse yet you sarcastic Bugger
I've been riding bikes for 30 years, I know they are Fucking dangerous..
If you look further down this post you will see that I thought a reg/rec would not kill the engine, just fry the battery or not charge it!!
But when I get advised that this is a common fault and then find a melted reg/rec unit plug and a burnt smelling unit, then hey Presto, problem found!!
this was replaced and it ran fine, so pardon me for thinking its fixed!!
If you have nothing useful to say, can I suggest not saying anything at all and let somebody who wants to help have a chance!!!
after 7 feckin pages the helpers have helped which if you read it i was one of them as well.
you know they are dangerous yet still continue to ride one that cuts out?
yes the reg rec was a problem but not your problem as you thought, so why ride it again?
knowing they are dangerous after 30 yrs yet still riding a bike that cuts out after you have replaced a part that you know is not the problem?
serious now please dont ride the feckin thing again until it has been sorted, and that doesnt mean change the reg rec.
your bike seems to be cutting out when it is warm.
have you checked.
the starter solenoid as suggested a few times.
all connections
all earths
the righthand switch gear
the wires under the ignition switch
that fuel is reaching the pugs
that the plugs are infact sparking when warm
the coils are working
etc etc etc
dont need a high horse either as i own 3 working bikes that i service repair and rebuild myself. and i have only been riding for 28yrs and close onto 750,000miles. Over 50 bikes owned and access to 9 different bikes anytime i wish, which range from 1925 bsa to an 06 sv thou.
bless you, carry on old bean and may your god look after you well.
