Nice..
Now from the above it is pretty obvious I know very very little of the GoPro stuff
What unit do I need to look for that will take the above switch and has wifi ?

Where do you chaps mount the camera to get front facing video?
<O:p
I used a camera on my last trip out to Scotland on an extension that I made to fit onto the end of one of my frame protectors but it allowed the side of the fairing to be in the picture, so not entirely satisfactory.
I am hoping that a sticky camera mount on the screen will allow enough adjustment to get a level picture without showing speedo`s or bodywork to anywhere near the same amount.
<O:p
Personally after that Michel Schumacher got head injuries from his helmet mounted camera I wouldn`t consider mounting anything on the helmet, just in case.

I use a drift shealth 2 & get good results & put tape over the mic so I don`t get background wind rush up to track speeds.
It has a remote that you can use while driving if you mount it on the yoke & the colour leds tell you what mode you have started & if it is working or not. Recommended.

Mount my gopro on the screen with additional safety lanyard in case camera fixing fails, i wont fix to paintwork in case of damage,

I have mostly used a J suction cup mount like this
It gives an infinite range of options. On the Bird and also the fazer I have attached it to the nose fairing to give an unobstructed front view. Have also fixed it to the tank to give a look at the bars to make it look like it's on a motor bike.

good looking AND modest
Here's where I mount my front camera, Clive made the bracket for me, it's there so I can turn it on and off whilst riding, and it's powered from a waterproof USB lead behind the faring so water isn't forced into it, :dunno:

I like that idea & position I will have to see if I can produce something of the same style (copyrights & trademarks allowing) .

Cheers bert @tu*

The roadhawk ride can be wired into the bikes ignition. It comes on and goes off with the ignition, nothing to set up. It's recording all the time you ride. You only have to think about it unless you want to view footage.. Simples

One of the problems with 'waterproof usb & cigar-lighter-style' sockets is they are only waterproof when the lid is on! D'OH.

We use these for sat nav, camera etc 100% waterproof. You can buy them as self-assembly kits

OR ready assembled here. These are the biz.

Thanks to everybody for all of the information regarding cameras. Have to do some serious Homework on the subject.
By the way enjoyed Johns two page spread in MCN the other week.

I have the Roadhawk bike cam as well. Excellent piccies, but I'm on my third unit now as they have all stopped working off bike power.
I won't be getting another one.
The one I have at the moment has also stopped working off bike power ( water gets past the back cover nylon grommet and stops it setting up). It still works for about 80 mins if charged off the bike and set to record off battery.

I have seen a new type advertised recently that looked good.. I'll try to find it!
