I think not. I am sure many who have been in this situation would agree that sometimes it can depend on the persons attitude towards you that makes you decide just what will be your course of action.
Each officer can use their own discretion and certainly in my experience if I find that somebody takes advice on board and appears to have listened and not given me a hard time I will leave it at that.
