I am still sitting on my € deposit bought at 1.41:campeon:

Still trying to work out why last holiday was Thailand and Xmas break is Poland!!
But as you know Andy, we spend more time in the Euro zone than at home !
If I had bought 60,000€ at that price, we would have had to get some more earlier this year any way !!

And I do not want to be morbid, but realistically there is no point in buying loadsa € now as I have no idea if I will ever get to spend them, and it would be more of a pain in the parts sorting out my estate if I still had lots of it tied up in foreign currency

I don’t buy € notes as I’ve still got a hundred or so from a few years ago. To me cash is an emergency standby if I should lose a credit card while away - Er, yes I did last month in Italy. Otherwise all of my transactions are by card, both the Halifax and Nationwide are very fair with their exchange rates and zero ‘foreign transaction’ charges. Whatever the rate is I’m going away regardless, it’s a holiday, a time to unwind and not to worry if I spent a couple of hundred quid too much when away.

A lot of the places we have been to over the years just do not take cards//
You ever tried to barter with a credit card !

Not had a card issue like that for many a year. I bought my last Euros at 1.40 and still have a few left over. No doubt the time will come and I’ll need to buy some, then whatever they cost so be it. Life’s getting too short to fuss too much about rates -it will just mean that I’ll be leaving less when I pop this mortal coil. No such thing as a rich corpse ;)

Some of the more out of the way places we ended up at around Idrija in Slovenia barely had a phone line let alone take a credit card ! And that was only last year
Even in southern Spain a card in some places is unheard of

When settling out hotel bill in Thailand we couldn't use a card as the internet signal was so flakey....had to draw cash out of a service till.....trust me, that wasn't 'free'!!

The local B&Q wont accept my card & never has, I thought this would change when I got a new card earlier this year but nope, rejects it every time !

The local asda wont accept my missus card 90% of the time, if I'm not there she leaves her shopping, walks outside to the cash point which works perfectly well every time

Makes absolutely no sense as both out cards work perfectly anywhere else in the country including the above stores

Or fact??

The arse has dropped out of the £,

There’s no getting away from it.

Although many say it has nothing to do with brexit.

Yet to hear any other explanation......
Fluctuation, somebody has a shit in Iraq, the arse drops out of the £, Somalia have a tsunami, the arse drops out of the £, A yank buys a house, the £ rises again.
Why did the £ rise & fall before brexit was even mentioned?

Yes, you are absolutely right Derek.

Nothing at all to do with Brexit.
