Bird or Fazer

Hi Wolfie mate.
Dont do track days ( 2 and a bit mls) so I cannot comment on them. but on proper roads doing proper miles and I'm talking 1000 miles a day the Fazer is lacking. The best I could manage was about 600 mls then I gave up as my neck was killing me and that was at 90 mph only, you can cruise on the Bird at 120/ 130 mph all day long ...No sweat.... I think the Bird has more comfort....as for the lights most bikes are crap any way. and top boxes Naaah use tank bag. I know its horses for courses but a Bird with a full faring is a better bet.

Wolfie

Is a lunp
also forgot to mention it looks better as well.

not mr sanchez, just an honest report from me wolfie, yes it is horses for courses, but you can deny the bird is a fat heavy lump of a bike.

Agreed

Agreed, I really don't think Yam designed their street bike to be an out & out tourer to cover a 1000 miles a day did they? It's a true all-rounder FFS.
I think the Bird has more comfort
Not overall it isn't. Perhaps when ya blasting down m-ways the Bird offers more comfort, otherwise IMHO the Fazer has the edge. Ask Toni if want someelses view.
the lights most bikes are crap
That's bollox. The Fazer lights are superior.
The buffeting on the FZ-1 drove me mad, despite trying different screens.
Funny that, I'm 6'2" and have no problems. Perhaps it 'cos I stay clear of motoways when I'm riding down to Spain :dunno: . Try it, ya might just find it more interesting.

Good??????????????????? Bwahahahahahahahahaha........................it's the best bike in the ferkin WORLD

It's sarcasm Steve, not seriously intended, you know, like a joke, like not meant to be taken seriously, like I'm taking the piss 'cos whichever specific bike related website you go on, the owners think THEIR bike is the BEST in the World.
And, all I said:
"It may well not have the grunt of the Blackie, but dependant of what sort of riding ya doing; personally (and having owned both I think I'm qualified to comment) it has more advantages than the Bird.
Why is that inaccurate and misleading information?
That's MY opinion based on ownership of both bikes - If you don't like my opinion, well that's tuff shit me old mucker & best you put me on your ignore list, 'cos that way you won't be offended by MY opinions or have to read my drivle:f :}

if i had the money i might change my bike every year and try loads of different bikes cos im sure there are plenty bikes better than the bird for one thing or another (or dare i say it better for everything c7u8 )

but as far as im concerned im happy with it the way it is and even though it is getting a bit dated looking i still personally think its one of the best looking bikes around so will likely keep it for a few more years unless it gets crashed or nicked or i win the lottery :-:

Now who's getting serious :p .

I've read too many of your posts to take you too seriously :} .

Besides I've always liked the fazer and it was a toss up between a brand new Fazer tho' or a year old Bird, but I'd read so much about the Bird I just had to go for it. R#?

And I've no intentions of ignoring anybody or their opinions, life too short. :k

One more thing, don't forget that word.... BANTER

don't 4get that word "ICONS". If it's banter & you have trouble communicating that (as in your original post :p ) then try ICONS as in your last post.

For me it has to be the Fazer thats because it suits me, granted the grin factor is not so big as when I owned the BB, but how often do you wanna be riding a speeds that will land you in prison????

mind you if that is what is wanted... it can easily be achived on the fazer 1000, must say I have noted a slight increase in wind buffering on the fazer compared to the BB at higher speeds...but nothing significant.

what can i say the results speak for them selves since changing to the fazer...

First and foremost... no more neck or back pains
improved fuel economy
riding position for all day riding, for me is excellent
granted the BB rode uneven surfaces slightly better that the fazer..

The fazers overall handling capabilities, considering many variations in roadsurfaces, city riding, motorway riding, A road riding the fazer overall is a better bike, for me.

I could go on ... I am not running the BB down it is a terrific bike... and during my short spell of ownership I had graet fun with the bike. but for me personally the fazer has turned out to be the right choice of bike.... for now

Yes, I would agree that the suspension could be improved, but it does not feel so bad to me that I would like to change it... not for now anyway.

Would I buy another Fazer... currently there is nothing to replace it that is better so I would have to say YES!

I am not qualified to comment on the fazer, but I can reccomend the 1200 Bandit, I have yet to meet a disappointed owner, cheap to buy cheap to run, and if you want to do wheelies in second gear then it is capable of that as well, look after it and it will look after you

Allrounder

Good line of thought Dk, as I don't think the Fazer should be compared with the Blackbird anyway as it is a different bike altogether.....But if allrounders
comes in as a class, then you have to add bikes like ZX 6 or CBR 600 which in my opinion would be loads better than a Fazer by a long way.

I don't think it would be correct to classify either of the two bikes you mention ZX 6 or CBR 600 as good all rounders, as they do not have similar riding position to either the Bandit or the Fazer, they would be a closer match to the BB riding position, and not what I would have thought could qualify them to be true all rounders by virtue of the fact that they aimed more toward a racings style of riding position.

The Bandit nice bike, but the Fazer is a little more refined both in ride and build quality, and has 6 gears as opposed to 5 on the Bandit.

Allrounder

I suppose Tony, my way of looking at it is, if it can do the twisties bits, go round the town, go touring, go two-up then it's got to be classed as an allrounder! Just as an example, the ZX 9 was a sports bike but could now be classed as an allrounder with the advent of the new ZX 10 on the market.
The point I am making is the new sports bikes of today will be allrounders in years to come, it matters not what the riding position is!

and just to add my tuppence worth.....

when I got shot of my 'Bird, I looked at a number of bikes, including the Fazer 1000, and just couldn't get on with it at all. :t

I found, (and these are only my opinions before someone jumps on me! ) it to be wallowy and very soft in the suspension department, grounded out too easily with a pillion on board, very nervous steering in a side wind, bloody awful windblast, pillion cannot use the stock grabhandle as they end up sitting on them cos of where they are mounted, cheaply finished.
Brakes were good though!

.... and before anyone says "yeh, and you bought a V-Strom so what do you know" !!, the bike I actually replaced the 'Bird with was a ZX9R.

(The Strom came later, and is STILL laid up now :bang: , so I'm back to riding my Thunderace, which I've just fitted higher bars too, and that has made a huge difference for me and my confidence, even got my right hand cornering back as well !)

Try a 'Bird with slightly higher 'bars and lowered pegs before you part with too much dosh.
