So, as the dust settles a bit.....

Farage seems to have been "mostly right".

The news story about a certain bank official telling tales over a free lunch (well paid for by the BBC) with a reporter turns out to be correct.

Hard to believe that a lowly new bank employee hadn't been properly briefed and trained about business ethics and integrity.
Oh, hang on, no, surely not, you're not telling me it was a very senior bank official with years of experience as a captainess of banking!

Two heads from the bank have rolled, Farage still wants the old codger's scalp.

Who'd have thought some of the current politicians (especially the chancellor) would have jumped to support him and propose new rules/laws/legislation to defend someone else in the same position.

On other news it turns out that a chap called Jeremy Hunt claims to have also been declined a bank account for (he believes) similar reasons.

Can't understand why that really is relevant. Oh, hang on again, so that's why the chancellor of the exchequer was so quick to leap to help the Farage.

This is all so much turning into a fantastic Private Eye or HIGNFY story!!

The first thing that anyone does when they go into banking is sign a Declaration of Secrecy. It is unfathomable why someone with so much experience and so highly regarded would do what she did.

A lot of the ‘reforms’ that are being chucked around are already in place under The Banking Code. But that would be factual so that’s no good for making news.

Maybe because as with many high rankers greed & corruption go hand in hand, the higher up the ladder you go the more indestructible you feel

I would add that the higher you go the greater the responsibility and scrutiny. Balls ups at extremely senior levels have greater consequences than at lower levels.

Cant see where ‘corruption’ fits into the scenario here.

I would say a 5.5 million wage packet is as corrupt as feckin Dick Turpin.
You got to remember that Joe public pulled these clunts out of the mire in 2008 with extra taxes applied via government.
Short feckin convenient memories.

Greater responsibility? Sometimes but also provides more people below you to slide the blame for cock ups, I believe it was Lord Acton who said “power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely”

And that goes back to the old chestnut on here’ why do people at the very top of industry get enormous remuneration and that one always turns into a pointless bunfight. Some get it, others don’t. Either way it is hardly ‘corruption’.

We live in a capitalist society. It sure ain’t perfect but it’s better than the alternative.

Alison Rose did a terrific job in picking up the reins after the Goodwin shambles and the early stages to shore the bank up done by her predecessor as evidenced by todays excellent interim results. Highly regarded within the organisation, the industry and the media. It’s a shame that one enormous dropped bollock and she had to go. Which, incidentally, I agree with.

So are you directly saying that Alison Rose is corrupt?

You appear to be doing so.

Well, you would say that being an ex banker, I think I spelt that right. :asz:

Anyhow it don't matter a jot what she did in the past, bears no relevance to her current f#ck up.
Positional power abused & breached customer confidentiality policy.

If you read what I have said you will see I totally agree she had to go.

One mistake, albeit a whopper, does not make her corrupt.

There is a difference between being corrupt and dropping a bollock.
If you have morals then you understand the difference between right and wrong. Now let's give Alison Rose the benefit of the doubt and assume that she understands that principle.
If so, then she would understand unequivocally that discussing a private client's banking arrangements with a member of the BBC journalistic team was totally wrong.

Under such circumstances, I see her as being a perfect example of someone who is morally corrupt.
