Glad Bamford stepped up - he’s the only fit striker in my fantasy league team with both Kane and Vardy out.

Played really well, Bamford m.o.m for me, Costa had about three touches & all were shite. I think the result would have been different if Vardy was playing

It might well have been, he’s a bloody good striker. What matters is that it wasn’t and he wasn’t. In a normal season, I’d say another 11 points and Leeds are guaranteed top flight football next season but the way the bottom four are playing (apart from Brighton today), I think a tally of 35 might well be enough. I think Leeds should easy take another 11 points from a remaining 18 games.

Two short of this weeks highest score then:ARMS1:
Before anyone points out Southampton were down to nine men, United were already six - nil up at the time of the second red card. The foul that resulted in the second red card and subsequent penalty (which I'm not convinced was a penalty) then made it seven - nil. In other words, Saints were well and truly buggered long before they were down to nine men.

I’m not a footie watcher, but just happened to turn over the TV in time to see, firstly, the shocking karate kick that resulted in the first red card - he should be banned for 12 months. Then they showed the second red card and to me, despite several slow motion replays, it looked very benign and not worthy of mention. It looked more like a dive.

The second red didn’t feel right even to this lifelong Red. However, the Law was correctly applied and he had to go.

I felt sorry for the Southampton manager after the game, he looked like he wanted to cry. Pretty much Everything that could have gone wrong both before and during the game went wrong. However, he should be proud of his players, they didn’t give up and cave in, they kept going right to the end.

I've seen the replay from a number of angles and if there was any contact, it was minimal. If my recollection is correct, I read or heard somewhere that the fouled United player in question said to the Saints player 'that was never a penalty' (he might have said 'that was never a red card', I can't remember, I'm suppose to be working).

To be accurate it was the player that was sent off that said Martial said it wasn’t a foul as he was leaving the pitch. Who knows if that is true.

Either way any contact is a foul whether deliberate or not, and there was definitely contact. As the Southampton player did not attempt to win the ball it is an automatic dismissal. If he had made a genuine attempt to play the ball the referee had room to reduce to a caution Under the ‘double jeopardy’ parameter.

as I said above, it didn’t feel right, but no argument from me that the Laws were applied correctly.

You are right. And if this was a properly refereed game and played with the correct shaped ball he would be cited after the game for endangering an opponent and facing a lengthy ban.

It appears that the dismissal of the Southampton player has been rescinded but I haven’t seen an explanation why.

Leeds Utd 2 - 0 Crystal Palace

Although Palace can be a tricky team to play against, this result doesn't surprise me.

I see there's calls for Bamford to be selected for the England squad this morning and about time, too! Well, if they don't call him up then I'm going to check his family tree and see if he can partner Kieffer Moore up front for Wales. I'm sure someone in his family must've been to Wales once.
