That stuff is total quality @slim63
It deserves full exposure mate.....
You are selling your work short.
I am not surprised you 'mate' sells it fast.
One of those tables in the right environment would be £500 plus

Its true I am a rubbish salesman, loads of people have told me I undervalue what I do but I don't really have a clue about how to get it seen by a wider market or make decent money off it, any suggestions are always welcome

Here is another small coffee table I just finished, I know you are all going to tell me its too cheap but I value it at 50 quid because one end twisted a bit under welding, I would have only said £60 if it were dead straight

Yep. Like the clocks. (y)
Let me know if you do any wall clock versions like those. I'd definitely take a couple...one for us and one for a mate.

Something like this ?
pichost

I have to take that one to bits & redo the finish as the lacquer reacted on it for some reason & I have another nicer one finished that I am waiting on a mechanism for, I could probably have a couple for sale next week so will give you a shout

The latest thing ;) don't know if I want to flog this or not as I really like it, going to see what a bit of glass costs over the next few days then decide

Clueless in most things
Have a look at some of the most noted steampunk shops in London, see what prices they sell for then send some pics over to their shops. London is a nuts place so have a figure in mind, double it, ad a little bit then that will allow you a decent return

That last table, when safety glass added should retail £250-£350.

That is awesome..

One thing that might be worth looking into is whether you can get the (toughened?) glass in standard sizes and then work around them. You might also need it to be kite marked if items are going to be sold??

The only time I ordered toughened glass they cut standard stuff in the glaziers and then had it treated. It wasn't cheap but it was also about 1980!!

I cant make stuff to that sort of quality & certainly cant make loads the same like those companies can because I don't have the time the space or the kit but I do see what you mean, I'm genuinely shocked at some of the prices

I'm not into mass producing stuff, almost everything I make is a one off simply because it depends on what parts I can lay my hands on at the time, that could be seen as a bonus for some people

Yes I'd love to get a contact in an outlet in London & start making some decent money off this stuff, I searched for places that might be interested but don't really know what I'm looking for to be honest

As for glass I know what you mean Andy, getting glass cut to specific sizes is expensive especially when the edges have to be rounded/polished, I have found a place that deals in second hand furniture & they do scrap quite a few tables etc, the glass goes in a skip so when I get time I am thinking I should go & see if I can buy some of the smaller pieces & build around those

I have a great glass chess board that I could easily build a table around but its not toughened glass so I wont do it because of the safety issue, no way do I want to be responsible for someone getting hurt so that will probably go in the bin

Here's an idea for the glass - charity furniture warehouses. There is a massive Help the Aged place near me :)facepalm: saying that is just asking for trouble on here!) that has a massive throughput of all sorts of furniture involving plenty of glass.....anything near you??

Yes that's the sort of place I have found, they supply furniture to people on very low incomes for a nominal fee, a lot of the stuff they get given they deem useless so goes in a huge skip & all the glass goes in another one for glass only, its a charity & I found out about as a mate volunteered for a while early this year, I figure a few quid in the pot might net me some smaller pieces of toughened glass to use

Don't need to mass produce this kit as it is all individual, just produce whatever you want, then contact your seller and say I have this, how much. So you control the amounts and when

Toughened glass isn't the only option, remember those doors at school that had the metal mesh through the glass as a safety glass ? Plenty of old tired school and office doors around second hand to strip the glass from, the wired glass type or, old glass oven doors which are heat and safety glass rated

Some great ideas there noobie :D I particularly like the idea of oven door glass that's the right size & shape for a lot of the small tables I make, safety glass from doors would work too if its inset into timber (edges of that is sharp)

cheers that helps a lot :beer-toast1:

Since my last confession I have made upwards of a dozen pieces all of which are sold :D here are just a few of them to keep you amused :)

Got a new welder now & have been stripping engines today so will be back at it sometime this week, no idea what I will come up with but I fancy doing something different as this stuff isn't much of a challenge anymore :)
