That one is an old clock face I cut down cleaned up & bolted to the back of a disc then lacquered before fitting a quartz movement, really very simple but it think it turned out well
Like that, something different.

The problem with the cheap Quartz movements is they always look, er, cheap unless you can find some nice hands to put on them.

Using an old clock face solves that issue.

Here's a thought....could you do something with old car instruments/clocks??

Thanks Andy, it turned out pretty good considering it was all old parts from previous ones I didn't like

I have been struggling with the faces & hands for a while to be honest & you are right cheap movements & hands can look cheap but if I want to keep the prices down the isn't much choice, I don't want to go down the route of printing clock faces on cd's like some do either as I think that looks really tacky

As for car speedo's etc yes I can do something with those its a very good idea thanks for that ! I had also thought of hubcaps with the car logo on the too, don't forget its not just clocks I make so really I collect anything I think may be useful & 9 times out of ten I do find a use for it eventually ....... I had a couple of cranks promised me today so I can see another side table, coffee table or stool being my next thing

Loads of charity shops around here, the tip isn't far away either & they have a huge tip shop so that's a good idea!

At the minute its engine parts & lumps of interesting metal I am desperately short of I just don't seem to have the time to go searching for it I started a small foot stool & a medium sized side table today that has taken care of the last of my metal bits

just a little foot stool I made over the last couple of days

Do you want to,p see a picture of the little stool I made this morning??

Seriously, I really think you have a market for this stuff...it's a matter of getting it in front of people. Don't be scared of asking good money for it...people will pay for unique stuff. I saw a brilliant coffee table made out of a fully functioning and stocked tropical fish tank a few months back...£4500....

If you are the sort of person who enjoys being out and about a market stall could be fun...just don't expect to sell much, more about getting the word out...much like on here. If you had a stall at a bike or car meet your target market increases.

Utopia would be to find a relatively local retailer that will either take everything you make or sell on commission. I can see that stool sitting in the window of my local family run furniture shop for £150.

Thinking out loud.....and I have no idea if this is warranted or not, might be worth looking into whether any type of certification is required for stuff like stools......just in case one collapses and you get caught with a claim. You then get onto the subject of third party liability.

Nobody ever said it would be easy becoming a billionaire!

Some good thoughts there Andy, I did do a stall on a bike rally last summer & got loads of interest, I even made my pitch fee back but the telling thing was every 2nd punter claimed to be a fabricator likes my ideas & toddled off to make his own version
