Obviously a lot of worrying and depressing stuff going on so I thought it might be nice to post up some of the positive and heartwarming stuff that is going on....feel free to add.......no negativity please or comments about bad behaviour...plenty other posts for that!!

- a resident has set up a Facebook local help group that already has over 800 people putting their hands up to say they can and want to help others, offering all sorts of assistance from getting the shopping in to hospital runs to checking on the elderly for those with relatives overseas to just having a simple chat on the phone to those that might benefit from some human contact
- local pubs maintaining their wholesale food supplies and opening at set times to sell these at cost to the public
- local businesses offering delivery services to those in need
- many opening privately run hotels for nhs staff free of charge
- Dominos offering free pizza to NHS staff

A local farm, almost across the road to me, is offering produce collected from other farms around the area. His current offer is 25kg bag of spuds for £10.

Another local is offering to take kids for nature walks. She's the local nursery school owner but as the school has had to shut, she's offering her services.

A local schoolgirl (studying for her nursery school qualifications is offering to babysit for children of workers.

All of these have popped up on the local Facebook site in the last week - a much better use of social media than it's been used for of late.

Just had our normal delivery from our normal driver, only things missing were crackers, spuds and washing up liquid - we were advised of this prior to the delivery.

The driver proudly presented us with a bottle of washing up liquid outside of what we had paid for as 'we were one of his normal customers and were always nice to him and the supermarket wanted to reward our loyalty'.

Which was nice.

We gave our phone numbers to elderly neighbours in our street. It’s not much but they’ve been told to call us any time should they need anything. The daughter of our next door neighbour was particularly grateful because she lives on the other side of the Valleys and her three siblings all live in England.

Yep. We've done likewise. Got to do your bit to help those that need it.

Tesco and M&S are opening their doors early on Sunday's for NHS staff on production of I.D. Open at 9am for shopping, till's open at 10am. This morning my wife went to our local Tesco's and they all received a bunch of flowers from the store and a round of applause. Nice touch.

One of my colleagues was verbally abused on Friday, people don't realise that along with other retail staff we are putting our healths at risk, just so they can buy paint so they can keep busy when they are self isolating.

Was completely overcome this morning, on coming down the stairs found a note pushed through the letterbox from a neighbours daughter two doors up stating if I needed any errands or shopping she was back from uni and happy to help, all I had to do was phone or text.
Restores yer faith in young people doesn’t it:).

Locally groups have been set up to help those who are having to stay in. If they shut down where I work, I'll be happy to fetch things for people who need it.

11000 postcards printed by the magnificent local 'help those in need' group that will be distributed to every address in the town by volunteers to raise awareness of the help that is available to anyone who needs it...whether it is delivery of food/medicines, emergency 'odd jobs' or even just someone to talk to by phone.

It is simply amazing how people have pulled together down here. Hopefully it is mirrored elsewhere.
