Just been and looked at the feed tube for my Scottoiler, done with Zip Ties, not super glue. Been on the bike since I had it, never been a problem. In fact, had the chain and sproket changed at 32K, (Originals, both of 'em). I can only sumise that those of you that had 'em and had problems must have done something wrong.:f :} :f

I fitted a Scot Oiler to my Bird at about 2000 miles.
I thought that it was easy to fit. Never had any problem with it. 12000 miles and it's still working fine. The chain is as good as new. I'd certainly fit one to my next bike. Steve.R#?

No mate, its perfectly normal.. However, 12K miles and you need a C & S set ! ?
I gather from that info you are of the anti oiler brigade then !

Sorry anti-oiler brigade but you don't know what your missing!

Scottoilers are the business - always had one on every bike - THE most essential purchase after your alarm and hugger.........use one from day one............my Bird's done over 25K in the last 20 months and I'm only just looking like I need a new c & s set.................

Bert - I guarantee that you'd never experience any fling going anywhere near your rear tyre wall unless you turned the flow up to maximum by mistake.............

If you mount the feeder up at the front sprocket then you don't have to have the ugly piping stuck or cable tied to your swingarm, and of course this further reduces fling to the wheel rim..............

The dealer who serviced my Bird once coated my chain in white Castrol Chain Wank - not that it needed lubing - they thought they were doing me a favour and didn't spot the disguised scottoiler install....................see pic..........

Reefer - you'll be converted mate by the time we get back from Spain after 2500 miles................just wait and see...........

oilers

had bikes with both but on balance i prefer to spend the time lubricating it my self.
As to extending chain life i think this rather depends on how you ride!!!
Samster having seen you ride i am surprised you chain lasted that long:yo:

RE leaking bottles

he could always get a magnum touring kit, that fits behind the no plate and wont need topping up.:neenaw:

"he could always get a magnum touring kit"

well why not go the whole hog and hook up a trailer with all the scott oiler support kit while hes at it:}

at least sam can always borrow me gazeebo while hes working on the oiler in the rain:}

bike on centre stand=5 secs..start up and run in first gear=5secs
shake can and squirt on chain 15secs = total 25 secs to lube chain..leaving 15 mins while sams still fiddling to have a fag:lick:

Well, and this is nowt to do with my bike this time :} , I can't get mine to stay on the bike long enough to use it!

Fitted a SO when I bought the bike, fitted a double injector, goes to fill the oil thingy ........ phone rings.. "wanna come fer a ride?" "OK" (I'll do the oil when I get back, ready for next trip).

Ace cafe and back, sedate like you do, ..... er whats' missing from my bike ? the injector, all of it. Gone.

Bollocks, obviously screwed up when I fitted it. Bought another one and fitted this one. Again never got around to putting any oil in for various reasons, but the same thing happened again !! no injector. Now if the oil HAD been filled up, that would have been fookin everywhere.

Bought a third one ready to fit, but holding off until other issues are resolved (change of bike ?).

Are 'Birds hungry for injectors ??????

at ?20 each for the injectors, it's getting expensive. Thank fook for chain spray ...........

Oi! I had a Pan... and I liked it :blush:

Anyway, has anyone tried one of these: http://www.chainoiler.co.uk/

Ugly I know, but maybe you could hide it inside the fairing somewhere. Quite a bit cheaper than a ScottOiler anyway. Any thoughts?

Lol! Thought you boys would like it :}

Surely it wouldn't be any worse than a Scottoiler as long as you hid the bottle...

its works pretty well from what people who have them said.
