Just clicked on that link... Are you sure this aint a wind up !!
I just cracked up reading it !
I mean, splonking ordinary engine oil on your chain !
This is a recipe for disaster surely ... it will fling everywhere...
All this appears to be is an updated ( i.e. made of plastic ! ) version of what ScottOiler were flogging some 25 years ago...

errrr as far as i know engine oil is supposed to be good for the chain?? or so ive read somewhere:dunno:

also for whats its worth i know a guy with a bike shop i was chatting to about crapoilers who said he was at a lubricant factory one day and they had a test rig set up to show the diffrence between oil(scottcrap) and chain lube

he said there was some kinda vortex setup in a clear container which was spinning in fluid and when then drop oil on the chain it..as you would expect flew off....

now he said when they done it with the chain lube it stayed on the chain..in fact he said it was drawn onto the chain and if he hadnt seen it with his own eyes he would never had beleived it:-:

needless to say he was also anti crapoiler

there was of course a bit more to it than the above but i cant remember all the details:blush:

The oil used in a ScottOiler is just a better version of that used for chain saws.. Like chain wax it not only does not fling but does tend to work its way into chains.. However that 2nd aspect is of no consequence anyways, as the Bird uses o and x ring chain.. So no matter what we use we should, in theory, only be lubing the outside bits !
Mind you, I spose it must help keeping the rubber lubed. Must stop it wearing and chaffing away to the point it lets crap in..

Ianroobo1~

You've obviously concluded that we're all long distance virgins!!! Well, I'm also going to Spain in June (Catalunya GP) with Reefer and the gang and went to Spain (Valencia GP) last year with trips to Holland, France and Belgium also undertaken last year and I didn't use a SO and don't intend to use one for the same reason Reefer gave.
If ya have a quality chain and sprocket to start with and ya clean it regularly and keep it well lubed (621) = no need for SO.

The owner's manual recommends engine oil on your chain! Or is that a different bike... I've read it in one owners manual or another anyway...
