I don't disagree , there are far more important things for Mr Plod to be doing however the letter as sent is just sheer laziness.

If in a scenario such as this all parties have complied with the law & exchanged details and there is no cut & dried charge of careless/dangerous driving etc then they shouldn't be going off on a fishing expedition (which is what this looks like).

Either Investigate or file it away

    Absolutely. @tu*

As I said in an earlier post, the Police were told many years ago not to get involved in damage only except in exceptional circumstances.

This crash does not fall into exceptional circumstances, and as said, they should not be on a fishing expedition. They either have the evidence or they don't..................

If they have a decent relational database that a query can be run against it's a trivial task for a Civilian Admin Assistant ;o)

Maybe, maybe not. I would rather see a drug dealers door being smashed in but that just a personal preference.

Somehow I don't think we are going to see eye to eye on this subject:-0)

How many CAAs kick in drug dealers doors?

Correct as one of us appears to be willing to bend over and take it unlubricated ;o)

I am of the opinion ( as a layman who does not know the intricacies of the law ) that IF the police wish to prosecute then they have a duty of care to the public to investigate.. If on the other hand they do not wish to prosecute then they should keep their oar out.
It is morally wrong to take a stab in the dark at someone in the hope they will lay back and take it ( as many many people will and probably do )

If one of the parties feels aggrieved enough to want to pursue the matter there is still the option of civil court to claim recompense

The more I think about it, the more analogous I think this practice is to Private Parking Companies issuing "Fixed Penalty Notices" in the hope that people will cough up and not challenge or question them.

You said the other driver was taken away walking, to an ambulance, yet everything says it's a damage only RTC, was it infact a Personal Injury RTC'?

Police don't normally get involved in any prosecution of a damage only unless an independent witness and clear offence.

Remember physics? Distance / speed / time? Well local police and specials have little idea about that, they are not collision investigators. There a difference between reporting and investigating the collision, looking at the physical evidence etc

What if you had pulled out of that exit when clear and stalled? She would still have hit you!! The point is she shouldn't have!

You can explain from figures I have already given where she would have been at point you moved off and second 1 and second 7 !! Very clear where she was at second 8!!!

Goes to show the importance of a having a camera in your car / bike. More and more bikers are use Go pro's etc

    Carrying on from above.

Ok I know its a 40mph zone but lets presume the other driver was doing 60mph. In the 8 seconds between when you start pulling out and when the other car first comes into view they would have been 704 ft away.

They would still have been 176 ft away (Ie pretty much the braking distance at 60mph according to the Highway code (ok there's another 88 ft to add for reaction time) ) at Impact minus 2 seconds which is the point at which you were stationary. Looking at the freeze frame when they first come into view it seems pretty clear to me that they had already committed to using the cross hatched area to squeeze between you and the oncoming (to them) traffic.

Either way it is a resource paid for by the tax payer that has better things to do. FoI is good in theory but I bet 99% are a total waste of time raised by people with little sense of reality who have an axe to grind.

As for your kind invitation in your final sentence I'll pass on this occasion .

The way I see it is that if this was just an insurance company claim the video could be useful but it wouldn't be so useful as a defence in court as (Based on TCs much more expert than my own analysis) it shows that the OP has not given priority to traffic on the right/main carriageway) which (and this is how I read that analysis) is likely to lead to an instant guilty verdict in Court.

Its deffo interesting as there is a junction I use regularly where the only way to get out at certain times of day is to be slightly "forceful" and put your vehicle in the main road (ie blocking it) in order to turn right (traffic typically doing < 30 mph but is almost a constant stream)

    Email from them.....

I would like to start by introducing myself as the officer who is investigating the road traffic collision that occurred between yourself and another vehicle on Whitchurch Road on 07/03/2016. I would also like to apologise for the service you have received so far from both myself and Cheshire Constabulary.

Went past this spot earlier today, the bus stop hut is demolished and the council have placed barriers around it, apparently it is (was) grade 2 listed and they need to get specialists to re build it at a cost of thousands!! The council intend to recoup the money by suing the motorist at fault who could also face a lengthy jail sentence........pass the soap eh Rob! man8um
