If he's PM, he won't be meddling with pensions and investments anymore.

Liz Truss has said that she would throw her hat in the ring. No thanks. Saying that though, she does seem to have, you know, a fair set.
He’d just hire a cousin.

So far it's all following the script to for prevarication to push it as far as possible into the distance.

1. Deny anything happened.

2. Insist that if anything happened it was innocent and above board.

3. In the face of evidence say its scare mongering/exaggeration but it'll be looked at.

4. Arrange for an internal enquiry in the hope that the depth of investigation/result/time frame can be controlled.

5. Panic when the person intended to investigate turns out to have possibly been involved - strange he didn't apparently know at the start and point it out!

6. Be forced to appoint just about the only official who may not already be compromised.

7. More panic now as both timel8ne and result is looking imminent and unpleasant.

8. Have quick word with Cressida and get her to start investigating.

9. Breathe a sigh of relief - Met have already stated they won't act retrospectively for covid law breaches, Met investigate at the speed of an uphill inebriated snail and without their specs won't recognise a clue or evidence wrapped in ribbon.

10. Politicians, advisors, civil servants and hangers on sit back and relax - nothing can happen now.

11. Met will drag investigation out as the baying masses hopefully lose interest.

12. Boris & Co stick to the line no comment until the process is complete.

13 Eventually the met conclude they have passed their findings to the CPSA.

14. THE CPSA now drag on as long as possible. Without commenting on the veracity or quantity of evidence they simply announce that any potential prosecutions are not in the public interest/do not meet evidential threshold.

15. Boris & Co announce they've been exonerated.

16. Hopefully now all this has taken do long everyone has lost interest/a war has started/the Queen is celebrating and the May local elections have passed.

Yes Minister & Yes Prime Minister script perhaps!

Actually I think there's a possibility of a slightly shorter process to the above.

Firstly - everyone talking to Met will simply say "no comment".

Met usually issues "on the spot fines" for covid infringements.

So no one says anything & Met concludes they don't have evidence to issue fine.

Same final result, Boris says exonerated and you lot can piss orf while I have another party.

That way it's wrapped up well ahead of May local government elections so the Party keep him as glorious leader until nearer next general election as per plan A

:)

Based on PMQs today I think from his demeanour Boris is convinced he's home and Dry!

It was the old Boris performance of easily avoiding anything of substance together with quoting "dodgy or misleading" facts.

I can't decide if it's a superb act or confidence from knowing the outcomes of the, now two, investigations.

Of course he's helped now by the police investigation, last week it was wait for the Sue Gray report, now he can't comment because of the police!

I read that he'll decide on how much of the report will be released.

Isn't that like the accused deciding how much evidence the CPS get to see...?

Yep, he gave a subtle non confirmation when directly asked to confirm he'd release the report in full as previously promised.

Just been reading the story on the whistle-blower leak on the Nowzad animal evacuation from Afghanistan.

Again a Boris denial (via his spokesman to keep an extra safeguarding level for him).

In Boris land he speaks the truth.

1. When asked in December had he prioritised animals over people.
Boris says "that's complete nonsense".
He's correct - he gave no consideration to either people or animals, just said what would make an annoyance go away.

2. When asked if he'd intervened.
Boris says "nonsense".
His official spokesman says ".......... PM didn't instruct officials to take any particular course of action".
I'm sure he's correct - he will either have told someone else to tell them to do it or when asked by an official should they do it he simply said yes (maybe with a niw go away and stop annoying me).
I'm sure in Boris speak just saying yes to a question is not actually an instruction.

He's a very accomplished and careful user of language.

:)

Interesting the Liz Truss trip to Aussie land, although most of the journos have got the aircraft type wrong.

It was a Titan A321 which is on exclusive lease to UK govt. for two years.

For once I'm not going to criticise a govt minister for the excessive cost.

Press are reporting it was 500kfor the five day trip.

Given that the actual exclusive lease cost is 100k per day regardless of whether its used or not it seems a bargain.

Titan meanwhile are laughing all the way to the bank.

How the hell did the govt think paying 100kper day for two years was a good deal - Well I guess if its not your own money maybe it is. :(
