I should think so m8, I'm STILL waiting for a call from some bloke called Gary, from Avon, John gave him my personal number, "the special one" :)-( and I've yet to receive so much as a "HA HA HA!!" from said bloke!! which just about underlines what I've been beginning to think about the company as a whole!! :dunno: still I live in hope that perhaps!!8rfl@8rfl@ on THIS occasion I'm wrong!! I aint holding my breath though!!:)-(

I have the same problem with a rear Storm II on the ST1300, But much more obvious. Front is ok with no uneven wear.
Both have done... 6,060 miles so far.
If I can be arsed, I'll go and get a photo.

I must admit, I do use the bike for training, with lots of roundabouts, and I do get the pegs down quite often, ( Not doing CBT's ;-0))) but the wear is very noticeable.

I think it will also be Angels for me next time.

Murt.

If you can get the pegs down easily, the rear shock's knackered. Either that or the bike needs a lighter rider. :p

Yer all a bunch of :wank: I only fitted the storms after you all sang their praises now yer all saying they are shite.

Will fit angels next time round, by that time you will have had time to work out if they are shite as well :bang:

To save any embarrassment, I will not post links to your previous posts extolling the virtues of storms fickle feckers

I know it LOOKS like I'm panning Avon storms, I'm not, as far as they go they are great, sticky as fook, reliable etc, what I'm pissed off about is the LACK of mileage from the front, before it went out of true :dunno: and then to be Bullshitted to about WHY it went funny!!:)-( I would like to have tried the new 3D's front AND back, but I'll be buggered if the front only last half the time the back one !! :dunno:

I'm on about my eighth set of Avons and love them. ( As per Robbo's comments)
Just cant understand why 'suddenly' they have started to get strange shapes on numerous bikes :dunno:

I'm wondering if it could be a quality control problem!! or maybe a storage thing!! only Avon themselves can answer either of these questions!! if they could be bothered to even look for a cause!!:dunno: as these are an outgoing tyre, I would be VERY surprised if they gave a toss, though if it were one or the other then there would be nothing to stop any other tyres they make to end up with the same problem!!

Well I've just had a set of the new 3d Storms fitted

trigantle

Talking of which
still have RP3's on the old one. Fitted the Z8's so going to see what they're like on the Euro tour next week. Had the same problem with BT'S & Angels going out of shape pretty fast. Wonder if it has something to do with grade of rubber that they buy in? But at the end of the day, it's not worth them looking too closely at the problem, as long lasting tyres will cost them money, in as much as, falling sales.

Dark Angel

Still kickin' it!
What's up wi' Michelins then?

Best road tyres yer can buy, in my opinion!

And why spend all this time bitchin'?

...Just buy a different brand o' tyre and gerron wi' it, fer fooks sake...!

No probs with Storm Ultra 2's but anyone thinking of getting the 3D XL version should do a search on this forum.

looked at getting the front on a Storm 3D XM, :dunno: £90 quid free fitting to loose wheel or ride in ride out!! it would have been £198 for front and back, with the free fit to loose or ride in/out, good deal IMO, from Steve Sirrell LTD or "same company" Leeds Tyres, they do postal as well, give them a call and get a quote, they seem to be on or lower than most!!:dunno:

Also asked them if they had many front tyres like mine, "buggered" apparently it's not unusual, though they wouldn't hazard a guess as to why it was happening, though "someone" other than me suggested Avon would say it's because of roundabouts!!8rfl@8rfl@

A few years ago I had an Avon Azaro (front) wear in just the same manner but worse, as Robbo's but happy with the mileage. Nobody has ever explained why it wore like that and all other Avons I've had since, have not.

However, I've only ever "spoke" or "listened" to peeps here and the Dark Side, so really have only heard proper bollox from KAFKA's rather than professional tyre peeps. I bet a paaaarnd to a pinch of shite the reps didn't quite say it like that or they were just the monkeys and not the organ grinder.

"Oh yes, I'm the Head of Tyre Technology at Avon/Pirelli/Michelin etc, been employed for donkey's years but know fook all about tyres and talk absolute bollox and it's only the Forum lads that can see through me. "

My arse.

Come on you Hatters
Fecking cottage industry company AFAIC. It seems that most sets or pairs of their tyres are fine, but they just seem to get too many iffy ones.

As I've said before my current bird came with storms, but the front was dangerously bad in the wet, no grip at all. Swapped to a NOS Azaro and scrubbed it in in the wet at McBash and all was fine. Tried to send it back for testing but they weren't interested at all.

I've also just had to bin a half worn Distanzia off my GS as it was falling to pieces. Seriously breaking up between tread blocks.

I've also noticed how they often need a lot of weight to balance them. The Distanzia rear on the GS needed nearly 100gm FFS

Just fitted my last pair of NOS Azaro's to the bird prior to the France trip we've just done, and they will be my last Avons. They're now about half worn having done about 2500 miles wet and dry, although the front needed 40gms, which fell off during the trip, but I can't blame the tyres for that I guess. If I ever get the bird fitted with the red bodywork it'll have PR3's on the matching rims.

My Pan got 5500 from its PR3 rear, but the fronts still good, just starting to go after another 1500 miles with a cheap pirelli on the rear. When I'm unhappy with the front ill fit a 3 front and 2 rear pair as it seems the 2 will last longer on the rear.

But I'm done with Avons. Michelins or the Angels for me in the future.
