Wouldn't mind breaking in my BIRD 'rideout cherry' - me and my better 3/4's will be coming up from Milton Keynes, Bucks - can you suggest a place where we can meet the gang? (and a time)

Gyp?

had a quick look at the map and the most direct route ( as in m/way )
would be the m6 -m54 -a5 shrewsbury travelodge meeting spot as mentioned earlier
Or you could always travel up to Berties ( j 24 m1) for bacon butties at 8.30 am
and travel over with us from there

Welshpool

About the only place I could suggest parking in Welshpool is bythe Old Station Cafe. As you approach Welshpool from Shrewsbury on the A458 and join the A483 at a roundabout, ignore the first turning into Welshpool after about half a mile and carry on to the roundabout about another half a mile further on, take the second exit and turn immediately left into the car park. The cafe is on your left. Not sure if the cafe is either open or big enough to cope with the numbers but the carpark is within easy walking distance of the centre of town where there will definitely be pubs open and maybe a cafe. Metropolis it is not. I plan to be there to meet everyone but don't let that make you change your plans! man8um :k Please ignore this and see later post.Centaur.

We will aim for the 11am (British Summer Time of course) at the Travel-Blah.

117 miles from the doorstep - so i'll need about an hour then

Look forward to meeting you all...

Lunch at Welshpool on Easter Sunday

Please ignore my previous post. I went to Welshpool and made some enquiries. The best place to park is in the centre of town car park 40p for an hour even on a Sunday!!! Welcome to The Gateway to Wales. By this carpark is a National Milkbar which I have confirmed is open all day on Sunday. It seats about 60.so should have plenty of room. Pubs are also nearby but could be busy. As you approach Welshpool from Shrewsbury, take the first right into Welshpool and after about a mile you will see the carpark on the left by a large Spar. See attached photos. See you there. Any idea of time into Welshpool?
