That was a bit of a nasty shock!!
If it's any consellation (?sp) when Pete had his 'off' they (eventually, big Poo to Shrewsbury Orspickle) put him in the Cardio-Thoracic Unit at Walsgrave (Coventry) where all the heart-bypasses were.
These blokes were in the ITU ward for however long post-op, then came into Pete's bay, in front of the nursing station, all wired up and well out of it. The next day the wires came out. That day or the next day they had started moaning so they started moving em down the ward into other bays till they got next to the door, at which point they sent em home again. About 5 days after the op, from memory.
However before they went, quite a few of em retraced their steps to say tarra to Pete!!!!!
My cousin went for the quadruple years ago. Luckily he decided (!) to have his heart attack on the carpark at Warwick Hospital when he'd just finished recording the sound for an Outside Broadcast (Beeb sound engineer) which was what saved him in the first place, a passing ambulance man caught him and carried him to A&E. He's still playing silly buggers on BMW and Mot-Guzzi sort of things. Must be about 20 years ago now?
And the scars are good, will be able to frighten lots of children with them, so you have that to look forward to!!!
Good luck Mate, and hugs to both of you.
