engine braking is for people who get their braking wrong.
pads are a lot cheaper than gearboxes, but each to their own.@tu*@tu*
So let me get this right, you are using your brakes but not using engine braking!!! So you are either braking with the throttle on, braking in neutral or braking with the clutch in.
Should you be near a bike, let alone a BIRD ?
Let me explain..
When you open your throttle and you are in gear you have drive, then when you close your throttle you have engine braking.
If you can read the road ahead well, then you have time to roll off, use engine braking to gentle reduce speed to that you want to make the corner.
Now you use brakes IN ADDITION to engine braking when
- to give you extra assurance that you will indeed reduce your speed in time for the bend
- engine braking is not enough for the pace you are riding
- you like stepping down the gearbox and listening to engine as you blip it between gears, but on each occasion you are disengaging your engine braking and therefore need to smooth out your overall braking.
- etc, etc
Hope that clears things up for you. @tu*
