Dont normally buy fuel at supermarkets, we set off late to cadwell so used Morrisons at Boroughbridge for convenience.
Filled up went in to pay and snotty bitch says "in future we will not serve you if you are paying in the shop unless you remove your helmet"
Was a bit surprised , so asked why?
Company policy she says.
But why says I
Its our company policy she says.
Yes, but why I replied.
If you are going to be awkward we can call the police she says, as she hands me my receipt.
I get the red mist, and tell her to fuck off and leave.
Now there was a spate of this a couple of years ago but its ages since I had any Helmet Hitler grief.
What do they think I am gonna do?
Not pay for fuel, why go in the kiosk then.
Rob the place, I wouldnt wear a bloody helmet with an open clear visor, a ski mask would be a better disquise.
I can feel a letter of complaint to Billy fekkin Morrison coming on:bang:

I always tell them I dont mind taking of my lid if you provide a clean area for me to put it...that usually shuts them up.

I have never had a problem with this, In fact I think it is rude to keep a helmet on when conversing with someone - even if it is 'only' to buy fuel.

My favoured fuel station is Sainsbury by The O2 Arena. Reason? Simple - pump takes credit cards, don't even have to get off the bike. Oh, and it's always 5 or 6p cheaper per liter than everywhere else.

The best thing to happen was Tesco's pay at Pump. I don't know why it's not everywhere .... probably as they miss people picking up drinks/sweets in the shop?

When I worked in the US back in the early 90's it was everywhere. We should catch up as it would reduced queues and it solves the helmet problem.

I did go and select pay at kiosk recently due to having a 5p/litre coupon (why can't the pump's existing scanner do that???). I was asked to remove my lid before the turned the pump on. Weirdly the stickers on the pump say remove lid before going to pay.

buy a flip up then.

cant sit on the bike around here, they dont turn the pumps on until you are off the bike.

Must be so nice to work in a garage having to enforce a policy that somebody else made and take the flak from people for it. Just smile at the cashier who is earning a few pence over min wage and take your anger out on the management at head office. or just accept that is their rules and if you want to fill up there they are the rules you have to play by.

How hard is it really to remove lid? stick it on the bike seat? carry it in with you as you pay?

I'm with the OP. Why the fuck should I take my helmet off if I don't want to?

If it was somebody Iknew and it was a proper covnversation, I would remove my helmet in the same way as I always remove sunglasses to talk to somebody (assuming I'm wearing shades, obviously).

However, I would suggest that "pump no. 4, please", "?27.50, please", slot card into machine, "enter your PIN, please......would you like a receipt?", "No thank you", retrieve card "thank you", hardly constitutes a conversation.

Further, I would have invited the stupid bitch to call the police too. Like they're going to turn up anyway and on what grounds could she call the police? Fuckin idiot.

I'm sure this has been done to death before. I've never been asked to remove my helmet, but if somewhere did introduce this policy I'd start wearing a burkah underneath.

cos it's rude and ignorant you fuckwit. It can be intimidating too. If the company policy is that they ask for removal they should have it displayed. It's not the cashiers fault you retard.

Why is it rude? It's a business transaction involving the exchange of goods for remuneration, you dickhead!

And why is it intimidating when you go in with your wallet open and proffering a card or cash?

This particular woman was a total cock. Threatening to call the police, my arse. She sounds a bigger twat then you, if that is at all possible.

no wonder society is fucked with all the rude and ignorant people about.

You are talking to a human being, the company has made a policy. They have to inform you of the policy if you are too blind to read the sings, or too fucking arrogant that you think it doesnt apply to you.

What ever happened to respecting your fellow man? they are doing a job, you row is with the company mangement not the working person behind the till.

or are you such a fecking cock that you actually think you are better than those who sit there day in day out taking money from rude, blind, arrogant wankers that come in and look down their noses at them. jeesus christ get a feckin life you sad bunch of arrogant fuckwits.

I really would like to see the cashier get up one day and smack the fuck out any one of the rude people i see using petrol stations it would make my day.

There is no reason to be rude, get some manners you uncouth bunch.

PS come to my town and tell my mum to fuck off if she is behind the till, let me know first though so i can watch her in action and you squirming.@tu*@tu*

I am not rude to the cashier; I'm not typically rude to anyone as a rule.

I agree that it is a company policy and therefore the issue should be taken up with the management, not the cashier, fair point.

However, it's a two way street. There is equally no need for the cashier to be rude either, never mind threatening to call the police for no apparent reason.

try it in a bank then knobcheese.

I realise you are doing this to get a rise out of some people cos even you aren't that much of a kunt?

It's ignorant and unnecessary. I'm all for rights and stuff but it's such a lame argument. I even take the open face off.

Damn right lids are intimidating to some, especially with eldery little man syndrome people like you wearing them.

I wouldn't do it in a bank nor do I generally do it in a filling station as I try my utmost to use a pay at the pump.

I'm not doing it to get a rise; I'll leave the inciteful posts to the experts. It's called a point of view.

Ok, wearing a lid can be intimidating under certain circumstances, such as dark outside, empty petrol station bar the lidded biker etc but not in broad daylight when there's half a million other people using the place.

Elderly little man? At six foot one, fourteen stone and mid-forties, I think not.

maybe the OP is a dramatised version from another small man?

I'm loving this small man thing coming from one of the biggest keyboard ninjas around.

Informed the op that he will not get served in future if wearing a lid

then informed op that is was Company policy twice,

then informed the op that she can call the police if anybody is awkward, which is again company policy.

sorry i dont see any rudeness there.

She informed him of the change coming up ( would of been rude not to inform him there, thus giving him time to find somewhere else or get used to having to take his lid off ) then twice informed the customer that is was not down to her but is in fact company policy.

and then get told to fuck oh dear.

Ok, the "fuck off" is out of order, end of.

Saying that, in what way did the cashier say that she would call the police? Was it little woman syndrome, "threatened" by the big nasty biker? Or was she being polite and professional?

Or is the OP over egging it a bit?

Was she on the rag? Did her boyfriend just pack her in?

Or was the OP just plain rude? Or agressive? Or threatening?

Trying to read between the lines of a typed, one-sided account, possibly with selective recollection........

Not the way I would've handled it, but hey-ho

pay at pump requires removal of the lid as well in some garages here.

I try to avoid pay at pump because

the cloners use them to get your card details,

you dont interact with anybody thus bringing society down even more.

they cost jobs yet the petrol still cost the same amount.

same reasons i dont use the self serve tills inside the supermarkets.
