There's always some "Nay" artist's, where "new" technology will always be "crap" to these old fuddy duddies, :whi5tl: and although reliance of 100% on them is just plain stupid, as an "AID" they can be a real boon!!:dunno: and like most things just introduced they will go down in price, :dunno: and I've already had a couple of offers to buy my 550 when I take it off the bike, so will recoup a large proportion of my latest purchase costs!!

Got an email this morning with this offer.... Can't for the life of me understand why bike specific units are so expensive compared to those for a car:dunno:

http://www.halfords.com/technology/...-lm-4-3-motorcycle-sat-nav-uk-roi-full-europe

Because the motorcycle units are waterproofed, have bluetooth connectivity and are produced in lower numbers which makes the cost per unit higher to produce.

Well that's probably the manufacturers argument anyways :)

It's the same with tyres. If you costed them on the amount of materials relative to a car tyre they would be a lot cheaper (possibly) than we currently pay.

I can't believe that you're justifying what you do with your own money. Spit the bait out F1sh1ing and crack on with reading the instructions ;-0))

The last one I used on the bike was a car unit with Bluetooth and never missed a bit when it was rained on.

Looks like you can fool a lot of the people a lot of the time.;-0))

Now well used to the 660 in the cage, and have been on a couple of runs on the bike with it, and the first time I used it I knew immediately what people have said about the sun on the screen, so went and bought a sun shade for it, that has helped a lot, on the bike I normally use the sat nav for a speedo as mine is so far out even with different sprockets on it that are "supposed" to make the speedo a little more accurate, but the speed icon is so much smaller than the 550, it's not much good for that, :dunno: happy with it though,

My 550 has the latest maps uploaded at the moment, does anyone know how I can transfer the "latest updates" to another owner when I sell the sat nav, as on the account I have I actually have 4 other sat navs registered and cant just "give" the email addy and password for the 550 away, but Garmin wont transfer the lifetime updates to the new owner which I feel is wrong as I paid for them, if you know what I mean?? any "sensible" suggestions for transferring it please??

Clueless in most things
Why do people need bike specific sat navs?

How much direction is there needed to say "put the bike in the garage, polish it and don't go out it's raining. You have reached your destination" :-0)

"PEOPLE" want a bike specific sat nav because my truck sat nav is too big for the bike, and I dont want to piss about with tank bags or shit like that, if YOU don't want one good for you, I on the other hand DO!! :f
