Have you noticed that we're canvassing preferred dates. The weekends either side of the first date suggested are being considered. Check back on this thread and you'll pick up on this, then post your preferred date.

On the other hand you could sell the kids into slavery, bin the holiday and bring the wife as pillion

The wife reckons she would prefer to be sold into slavery but there's no way I can manage three sproglet pillions on the same mission. Seriously, weekends both sides are goners also!
Next time........

the boss says

Clive The Boss says we are going to a wedding on the 25th and we are booked at the hotel from 23rd /25th, but she has given permission for me to go on the Bird, and the wedding is in Ruthin, so i have 2 days around snowdonia, HeHe,
So if its another weekend i may get to it.
With regards to the boss riding pillion she rides an XV 750 Virago, and if any one is riding pillion it more likely to be me LOL so if you all decide on another date let us know Mickyb man8um

It's make your mind up time

I don't mean to be pushy or nowt, but, I reckon we could do with securing the date(s) soon. Me and Lainey went up to Keswick yesterday for a nosey regarding accommodation for the saturday night. It might not be the easiest task finding somewhere for just the one night.

I've been watching the thread for a while now, and am glad you're back to the original dates. There is just one query from me: What time are you expecting to leave Scarborough and what time and where are you starting from in Keswick? Thats 2 isn't it? Or maybe 3? c7u8

The reason I ask is that I would definately love to make the Lakes rideout if I can't stop overnight and would be more than willing to make an early start from West Yorks to meet you all there. Also, I would rather stay at home on the Friday and meet you all in Scarborough on Saturday morning if I'm going to make both days.

Thanks a lot.

 And much respect for organising these runs.

Here are a couple of pics from my last run to the Lakes on my birthday last October. Hope they whet peoples appetites if anyone hasn't been before.

B & B shortages

To all Northern Cloggers,
I've just been on the phone trying to find somewhere to stay on the 24 July, it would appear that it is the Christian convention in Keswick that week, and finding any accommodation, let alone one Saturday night is proving more than difficult.

OK peeps....

hang on for 24hrs.

Clive and I will re-plan and let you know the new Saturday night venue.

Many thanks to Stuey for the early warning (have you nothing better to do???)

Stuey beat me to it about the Christian Convention. Keswick is packed out for two weeks whilst that's on. :xm

May I be presumptious as to suggest Windermere and/or Bowness? There are plenty of B&Bs and a car park just off the waterfront near the jetties. Good place to finish Saturday/start Sunday

UPDATE - Saturday night

Due to the Christian Convention in Keswick, we have had to go for Plan B.

As we originally said that this was a 'coast-to-coast' ride, we have honoured our pledge, and the new finishing point for the Saturday night is.....

Morecambe

Yes folks, with no expense spared, we have arranged for the electricity to be turned on for the night and have even organised for you all to have a personal meeting with Eric Morecambe himself!

I will be posting a list of samll hotels/B&B's shortly, but if anyone is eager to make a booking, I suggest you go for the West End Road / Central Drive / Marine Road areas.

The Sunday ride in the Lakes, will now be starting from a location in the Lakes itself (perhaps Bowness) but further details on this to follow.

Thats all for now folks....

Keep up Bert (sign of old age)

Date - Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th July 2004

Day 1 - Scarborough to Morecambe
Probably starting from Scarborough sea-front (after taking in the sea-air and a hearty bacon and egg breakfast)
A ride across some of Yorkshire finest countryside, with stops at various points, and on into Cumbria.
Finishing at Morecambe

Optional night stop-over in Morecambe. Peeps to arrange their own accomadation. We will publish a list of B&B's on this thread later.

Day 2 - Scenic tour of the Lakes
A leisurely start and then a circular tour of Wordsworth's country, before the final stop for good-byes, prior to making our way home.

Please note that you do not have to do both days. Join us for Day 1, Day 2 or both. The choice is yours!
