Just a couple of observations, firstly 'Bob' the moderator from an inferior sector of Bikers Oracle, seems like a nice enough guy but takes his role within his own forum far too seriously , bit of a jobs worth ,no need to be as diligent or obsessive, ......................................................................moderation we have come to know and love is not replaced by 'Bob' and his clones

That is, of course, your opinion.
Personally, I don't think you are qualified to make those observations. Mainly because you do not know all the facts nor are you privy to various personal messages with other, concerned, parties. For your information, I have moderated several forums within Bikers Oracle ever since it was first formed, until last week I have never locked a thread (and then I only locked one thread) and the only time I have deleted messages is when they have been posted by spammers.
It never ceases to amaze me how, on the internet, people will frequently insult others (not that I'm saying your particular comments are insulting, but others have been) without knowing the person or knowing the full facts behind whatever that person may or may not have done :dunno:

All moderators in the 'Bikers Oracle' family of forums would appear to moderate at a very similar level. Based on the infrequent visits I've made to this forum, over the past few months, moderation here is no more or less tolerant than on any of the other forums.

Oh, yes, before anyone questions why I'm looking in here. Obviously the fact that one of the forums I moderate was referenced has made me look in more often, but I was looking in from time to time prior to that. Currently, I am between bikes and looking at several options, the BB being one of them.

You could certainly do worse Bob.. The Bird is a great all rounder that weathers well and seems ( so far ! ) to last for ever without major problems

Intersting observation re moderators..
We do not have any ( apart from one Super moderator ).. only myself for admin.
Moderators are simply not needed nor welcome within the forum.
If folk on here wanna ruck they are all big enough to do so
Dont need me to protect em

So am a little baffled as to why you think this forum is moderated at approx the same level as others on B O ?
I have watched with interest several other sections and quite frankly cannot believe the amount of digit poking there seems to be by moderators on some of the forums !

I have served in places where soldiers were beheaded or had their privates cut off and stuffed in their mouths and I have a son who has served many times in Iraq and Afganistan and will probably be going back when he's fit. I saw this thread and reading the warnings and seeing some of the comments I did not open the attachment and will not do so. I personally would not have posted the thread since I don't believe it serves any purpose and will have no affect on future behaviour. If publicity of mass murder and inhumanity etc had any affect on future human behaviour then the unending publicity of 6 million Jews slaughtered would have meant the end of war which it clearly has not. However I do believe in free speech (unless deliberately intended to offend) so I defend Ian's right to post with appropriate warning.

OK, I'll concede that there may be a bit more moderator interference on some of the forums but I wouldn't say it was excessive, also I haven't spent that long in here to get a proper feel. But from what I've seen there is very little difference in the language, banter and arguments in this forum than some of the other large forums, and I really haven't seen any excessive moderator interference on those.

I think the level of moderation on BO is much lower than on most other bike forums I've visited, some of which wouldn't even allow a 'Coffee Shop' area and woe betide if you drift off topic (especially some of the American ones).
