Have you noticed the absence of regular posters recently?
Have you noticed the absence of new posters recently?
Ever wondered why?

Could it be we are very quick to critise or take the piss unnecessarily?
Don't know what's going on but it sure don't happen on any other forum!

This is a general observation and it is not intended at anyone in particular but if you have grievance/reason to moan/call it what you like then lets use a bit of diplomacy boys and girls.

What kind of message does this send out?

I went along to a bike club some while back and they were all having a go at each other on my first visit.
I didn't bother going back..................

So there you go - what about telling us about something nice that happened to you or even something positive and inspirational.

I have often looked at first time posters, and then at the replies posted by our 'established' members and am quite often amazed at what I see.

Comments like 'welcome to the fudge packers mad house'

What sort of welcome is that???

IMHO I think we should exerscise more caution and respect when trying to gather newbies into the fold.

Of course not everyone post's welcomes such as that above, and I have seen others who try to do 'the right thing'.

But - I speak what I see, you did ask.

could the reason the piss taking and "in fighting" doesn't happen on any other forum is because there all boring sods and unlike on here don't have an opinion worth listening to or standing by,??

and as for the absence of "new" posters on here, that is one of "Friend lumpys" points of note, and has been for some time, :} so nowt new there either then, :dunno:

The piss taking and abuse is generaly given and taken in good spirit. However, it now seems impossible for someone to give their opinion or make a point without their riding ability being called into question. It seems here, the guy who has done the most track days or had more training is the most qualified to speak. Most of us are experienced bikers and are capable of riding a bike. It aint rocket science for fuck sake. Anyway rant over I agree Bob

True, but having ridden with a quite a few from this site, if we're talking about seeking advise, guidance & general comparison of notes, I'd only bother listenning to about 2 guys (Russ & Dave T). Wolfy I'd listen to 'cos he rides all year and is a hard bastid :bow: and Ben 'cos he's a geeeeeeza. Perhaps I need to get out more :}

If you get a group of riders together, you are going to get some that are better than others, but each in turn will take the piss, there is nothing malicious in it, it is communication, and it is also a form of respect, it means you feel comfortable enough with that person to be able to give them a bit of abuse without them taking it the wrong way, anybody who does take it the wrong way needs to liven up and realise that humour prevents makes the world go round....Oh btw for anyone who is interested you can't take the piss out of me coz I am perfect :} ...just thought I'd let you know

Due entirely to age and nowt else I have proly done more track days, more hard miles, more touring than most folk on here. ( during my profesional riding career time I was clocking up an average 110,000 miles + a year on the bikes )

Yet if you read threads I have contributed to, you will see that when I make a point it is ignored.. then later WHEN SOMEONE SHOUTS they are taken note of..

Nah mate.. its the same old story.. Empty vessels make the most noise, and attract the most attention. ! :} :f :}

biker forums are full of it........... or they are dead
I am a relative newbie, done a fair bit of lurking first (obligatory innit??) and IMHO this place is mostly just good banter. Sure, it's had it's conflicts but there is no board that hasn't.
