What was your dream bike when you passed your test?

I passed just after Suzuki launched the wonderful GSXR.
Many an evening was spent, nose pressed against the window of Crescent Suzuki, drooling over the huge, special edition, black and gold slab sided beast.

Unfortunately at the time I was a poor 17 year old student:cry:,so it would be another 7 years before i managed to own a GSXR.

Still kickin' it!
...LOL...

...Royal Enfield Crusader Sports...

..250 twin...

...Mum&Dad said "NO!"...

...So I ended up with a Triumph Tiger Cub...

...Bliss! (Red-hot exhaust and 60mph in third (Monobloc Carb, 9:1 HC piston and sports cam - fitted by yours truly...!))

...Thanks for the memories...

Only one to have was a Triumph Bonneville 1961 in Bonneville Blue and Silver, with Gold Lines all done by hand in Meriden. Had it before I passed my test with a sidecar on, the sidecar came off about thirty mins after I passed my test lol.

I suspect the bike your thinking of was the Crusader RE250GT ( still a single, came out in about 1960ish ? )
Always in red, had a fibreglass tank and swept back zorst as standar.. and was also the one that I most wanted as it happens
Just found a picture of one in really nice nick..

The original CB750 ..... but all I could afford was a CD175 on which I passed my test. Later a Norton 500ss.

First new new bike ever was a Suzuki GT380.
Eventually bought a CB750F2 demonstrator.

The first model CBR600, but by the time I could afford one I had to buy a car so only recently I had a CBR1000f followed by the Blackbird.

My dream bike then was the Suzuki GT750 kettle.

I had a GT125 on 'L' plates.... but the 750 was my dream at the time.
Never got to ride one on the road though.

Slippery Sam.

love going to classic bike meets and seeing Rob North frames and hearing droning triples.

Loved Triumphs.
And yes for you anoraks out there I do know that the original Sam had the BSA triple engine.

T150s were gorgeous and then when I saw the deep red and white tear drop tank of the T160 I nearly exploded with wanting.

Passed my test in '74 and bought a 1970 Triumph T100R Daytona.
