Just finished this coffee table on commission for a lady

Earlier I finished shaping the scales on the blade I have made, just a bit of fine rubbing down & oiling it then that's another job out of the way

Made a bit of a start on another commission job so quite pleased its been a productive day & the sun just came out :D

Love the table(y). Really like that.

Grass has been cut too short though. Looks better than ours, Green Thumb has now been renamed Green Thumb with Massive Brown Patches. They are coming back tomorrow to sort it out so fair dos to them.

Glad you like the table, it was a real pain to do so I hope the lady likes it, pays up & gets it out of my shed soon

The grass is short because muggings here cuts it that way, its a job I hate & chop it right down so I don't have to do it so often, there are brown patches because when I cut down all the trees so we could actually get into the garden I left a beautiful silver birch & that sucks all the moisture out of the ground

The off road Yamaha BWizz is well under way
Found some ally sheet and made a new underseat tray that will house the battery, CDI and starter relay.
Used the off cuts to fabricate a replacement for the the large lump of engine casting that was smashed off
Nothing pretty but it will help with the engine cooling as it is part of the surround that directs air from the cooling fan

Next was to check the wiring diagram and make a little jump lead to bypass the start safety interlock.. I had to do this as you normally have to put the brakes on before the starter will work, but there are no stop light switches any more !

Moved on to the remains of the ignition switch.. One of the reasons it was abandoned originally was the keys were lost.. Idiots had tried to turn the ignition with a screwdriver.. All that did was jam up the barrel but not before it broke all the bits that connect the lock to the switch
I got the thing apart and discarded the key barrel
Made up a dummy key barrel on the lathe out of an off cut of delron plastic.. very VERY tough plastic
I found a new tent peg ( yes, really ! ) and beat about 25mm flat and filed itto fit the hole in the switch
Used another beaten flat piece of peg to make a key.. Stuck the whole lot together and now have a working ignition switch
Obviously not secure but as it is a dirt bike for the kids that is not really an issue

Tomorrow.. start again as the list of jobs is still exceedingly long !

Cracking piece of kit (y). However, your comment about introducing motorcycling induced a mild guffaw.

The seat cover arrived for the road going BWizz.. Its the last job on it......
Over the years I must have fitted 100's of bike seat covers ( I go for the ones that are tailored for the bike model as they look good and are easy to fit ) ..
The procedure is to warm the cover, stretch, fit front on, fit back on, staple in place, pull the sides down, bit of massaging and then staple
the sides

Two hours of heaving, warming again, more heaving and then MORE heaving and the bugger still aint on properly
Its close, but no where near close enough to start the stapling..
Gonna leave it over night on top of a radiator to see if that 'relaxes' the material a little more..... If not they can have the bloody thing back !!!!

Piddled about with some more stuff I am making & stuck some Danish oil on the handle of the blade I have made, then I was hanging around for a while waiting for a girl to pick up her table, I was a bit nervous about that as I didn't know if she would like it, turns out she absolutely loved it :D

Came second in a three and a quarter hour game of Linkey held via Zoom involving friends from four different countries.

Technology, eh? Marvellous.

Dark Angel

Still kickin' it!
Watched eleventy-five "catch up" episodes of "The History of Comedy" on Sky Arts yesterday.

Some great stuff there - even a reference to "That Was The Week That Was", which made
me smile, but (as yet) little or no reference to the shows the Yanks lifted from us and adapted
for their own audiences.

It's raining, so I reckon I'll finish the series today.
