Went to the garage today to fit the new vacuum tubes controlling the auto choke on one of the race peds.. It was to be the last job on them before the Bash
They are all ratty and tatty but now all run nicely
Then I noticed one had a totally flat tyre.... and its tubeless
Type had come tight off the rim so I knew it would be fun to reseat
Got a ratchet strap around it and tried to get it to spread..... After several tries I gave up and decided to take the wheel off to get better access
Soooo.. that is exhaust off as the wheel is tight behind it !
Got the exhaust off, followed by the wheel
Wider ratchet strap and heaved
Nope
Tightened strap further and spent 10 minutes bouncing the wheel to get the bead to seat
Nope
Jumped on the bike and took the wheel to a friend who runs a garage
He has a type seater ( basically an air tank you pressurise attach to the valve stem and then release a LARGE quick action tap that shoots about 100 litres of air out in one go
Set it all up, threw the valve... nadda !!!!
To cut a long story short it took him, another friend who runs an MOT place next door and myself an hour to get it inflated !!!!!!
Then to rub salt in the wound could not find a bloody leak
Decided to let it down again and fit a new valve stem just in case
It was then we discovered a split inside the rim on the stem of the valve
So new valve fitted, another 30 minute fight to re-inflate the darned thing and it was job done
Back home, put the ped back together and all is well ( for now ! )
