Ah, football...
yessssssss............
read my other post ( Thetford goes large )...
I would like to say that the mind of the average so called fan is very tainted and warped.. I now firmly believe that is completely wrong.
They have no minds to be warped. Sad fookin muppets the lot of them
Sorry if I offend but I am really sick and tired of the whole scene.. sick of it being stuffed on the telly over every thing else, sick of the violence, sick of the constant news items about the premadona's of the so called sport..
If every football field in the world was turned into a car park ( or better still a bike park ) tomorrow I would rejoice.
What is it called... the beautiful game ? Even that is sickening.

read your other post john.i must say that i completely agree with you,i was,as a youngster(10-16yrs old)a leeds united supporter(in the days of madeley'lorimar, hunter etc)and a swansea city supporter %$fan and was put off the game by the sheer mindless-ness of the morons that suposedely "supported" these teams.all it was,was an excuse to give a good kicking to an opposing teams "supporters" and vice verser.
in fact, back when i was about 18yrs old,i went out for a ride on my old yam dt 175 mx to porthcawl on a chilly spring day.as it was so cold i borrowed my brothers scarf(which was b+w....swansea colours) to wrap around my face as i only had an open-faced helmet, anyway whilst walking around porthcawl,
i was jumped upon by four cardiff city "supporters"and was given a good "kicking"my god aint they hard, giving a 11 stone(soaking wet)person a kicking and all for wearing a b+w scarf,as you say john, fooking muppets.....
should line 'em up and :bandit: :shooter: the bastids.

My tupenth for what it's worth!

it's obvious that none of you have been anywhere near a football ground in the last 10 years
I've had a season ticket at Spurs for 16 years now and along with bikes is my other big passion. At one stage I had an away season ticket also, meaning that I attended all games; home & away and regularly travelled throughout Europe following Spurs. I was also a member of the England Travel Club and attended many England games.
The incident in Thetford the other evening may have been sparked by football, but I suspect the incident could have been sparked by basketball or a diddly winks match. It was nothing more than a bunch of thugs finding an excuse to have a go at other folk.
I can't remember the last time I saw violence at football. No doubt it goes on in small pockets by those who "look for it" but my view (which is shared by 2 serving police officers that attend matches with me) is that most incidents of football "related" violence are no more than what you'll find going on in any town/city centre in this country on any Friday or Saturday night. So my view is that these incidents (mostly fueled by alcohol) are simply indicative of today's society in the UK and not simply football fans

Please let's not marginalise and "pidgeon hole" most football fans, in the same way the general public view most bikers. :neenaw:

And to get back to Pierre's point. Well done the "plate chuckers", they deserved it. :}

I'm gonna come clean... I'm not a football fan and just watch the footie big national matches with my French mates as a fun thing to do - especially when you're an expat you want to reinforce your national fiber... But I understand footie fans, each to their own, who am I to judge if their hobby/passion is less or more than mines? Live and let live - not my thing? I don't go - but I don't comment that it is crap. Some people don't ride bike, but don't judge us as 'whatever' and some other find any reason to slag us off (and there are many from their point of view: noise, 'mythical' violence in the cultural subconscious, danger...) - who are the intelligent ones? Well behave like them, not like the stupid ones.
Football is such a popular sport in the world because it's about a team, not only the team who plays, but the team at large, including the supporters. Local teams bond local people, regional teams bond regional people etc. And like in every type of group, there is always a minority in it who are morons. And extreme right organisations have targeted football and infiltrated some of their elements in the core supporter groups - destabilisation suits their purpose as football is highly mediatised (?) and when people see trouble and fight on telly, they think chaos is at their door and are more enclined to vote for people who have 'order' and 'security' at the top of their election program. Before anyone tries to contradict me on this or say 'conspiracy theory' I would strongly urge you to do your research, in order for you not to appear stupid. What I just said I KNOW and no, I never belonged to an extreme right organisation, and no I won't tell you how but it should be easy enough to find out with the internet.
Having said all that you will note that there was no problem in Portugal - not ONE - between English and Portugal people after the match, much respect instead... In France where the racism against black and maghrebin people is quite big, the world cup match did more for eradicating racism than all the anti-racist conferences combined... So you see, football has positive effects through its federating power as well. Rant over.

Iwas at Assen for WSB three years ago...........and a fight broke out in the crowd, drink was the main culprit. Again 2 years ago at Assen for WSB, everyone was searched on entry 'cause of the trouble they had experienced at the MotoGP that year. No probs then though. Again they were searching peeps for drink. Even bottled water was being opened and checked.

it is illegal to take alcohol into a ground in England, however it is no longer illegal to consume alcohol in a ground, thus a lot of clubs sell alcohol in grounds at whatever price they think they can sell it for  It's usually tasteless and watered down :puke:
They had to lift the ban on alcohol being served in grounds 'cos the clubs complained about lost revenue and coroporate bods complained about not being able to consume their prawn sandwiches without a pint of "wife beater"
Pierre, my mon ami, if I understood you correctly, you are saying there are far right groups amongst footy supporters? I concur with this, but you realy do have to know where to go in order to find these groups. They don't just walk up to you and say w;;v wanna join us . I can assure you they are a tiny minority, although they should not be ignored and the authorities should continue to target the nasty Chavscum

Face facts... football has long had an undercurrent of thuggish violence running through it, and it starts with the players. Roy Keane, for example, boasted about it in his book, and would have been jailed long ago if he'd assaulted as many people on the street as he has on the field!

The thug fans then emulate the ugly behaved players... that's the football mentality in it's glory for you. You see the players displaying this mentality on the telly every weekend, - you don't have to look for the far right. Just watch sky sports. It's right there!!

I went to a match with my elderly dad 'cos he wanted me to go with him. I spent much of the time people watching and it was amazing. The feeling of latent violence was very powerful. I watched a kid of about 12-13, who looked like he was there alone, watching the adults and copying them... chanting threats, the body language, the lot. He was a future football thug in training!! Plain to see.

They are gonna have to stop it on the pitch to stop it from the followers, and if they stop it now it will take a generation to work through. Not a bright future ahead, it has to be said.

Christ Rob; what a terrible experience and nothing like the one I'm used to these days. You are more than welcome to attend a match at Spurs with me next season & I can assure you'll see passion, folk being vocal and excellent banter, but you'll not witness kids chanting threats or anything of that nature (unless Sol "Judas" Campell is playing :bandit: )
In fact, last season I took my then girlfiend to one game and the geeza who sits behind me (Harvey) apologised to her for releasing an expletive.

Yes mi amigo, this is correct. Far right organisations infiltrate footie supporter clubs. The infiltrators are trained in psychological warfare, spot and work on individuals likely to follow them to wreck havoc to maximum effect.
Violence is a very rare occurence generated by just a few individuals and yet, people who just buy what the media feed them believe that it's generalised chaos out there every Sunday. Why? The image of football supporters that the media give is one of violence, because it sells. Images of repeated violence serves the purpose of organisations (and governments to a certain extent) who want to persuade us that we live in a chaotic world in need of more order, more repressive laws, less liberties and more means to control the people. One more time I would urge anyone thinking I am paranoid to do their own research first.
Meanwhile, away from the cameras, people get robbed, raped etc without the police doing much about it (lack of funds) and yet are not authorised to defend themselves - even mace is illegal in this country - and are asked to rely on the authorities to protect them... with more 'order', more repressive laws, less liberties and more means to control the people :bang:

sorry mate, whilst I don't think you're paranoid, in 16 years of being a season tickets holder at Spurs I've yet to be exposed to the far right groups you mention and let's just say I used to know a few of the faces.
I think you'd be surprised just how much information gathering the police and authorities have on these individuals and groups.
There are at least two members on this site that could give you a better insight into that than me, but that's up to them to come forward.
My understanding is that the far right groups you refer to are possibly more active in your native country than the UK, but none the less, they should not be ignored.

So.... what about the thousands of known thugs that were prevented from travelling to Portugal, by means of surrendered passports, .... are they all reckoned to be members of the far right groups then..?
