"Off on a tangent" has become a way of life for you.....:-0)

I think it is more obtuse than tangent.:-0)

The point I make in using The Carpenters example should be fairly self explanatory........

'Superstar' and 'Rainy Days and Mondays' didn't even make the top three.

Just watching Trump on Sky can't hear as lunch in pub.

Jesus didn't vote

To be fair it was expected, the same way we had the worst of the losers challenge everything over brexit. A lot of the old establishment do not want to change the way of politics that has given them a good living by keeping as achieving very little.

Like Brexit, he will get there in the end but he's got to let the losers have their lil hissy fit

It worries me that a) he uses this type of words in social media and b) there is every indication that his presidential style will reflect the style he used in business I.e. Use litigation like machine gun bullets and basically bully anyone who stands in his way.

Democracy?:dunno:

Using the system that has elected Presidents for god know's how long then yes, he was democratically elected

Be honest Andy, how often have you heard, "we need a business man running the country and not a politician" and " I'm fed up of politicians promising stuff but never delivering on it"

Yes it is raw and yes it is unpredictable but the regular political boys club way of working clearly wasn't working.

The only way we will find out is by the passing of time.

I just don't think this man has the diplomacy skills to be in his job. Piss enough people off and it will bite him on the arse?

America may be the most powerful nation on earth, but it needs global partners to thrive.

I feel too many are reading the papers and hate sites rather than look at what is actually happening to be honest.

He said he would do this, he was elected on this so did it. A judge has put a temporary ban on his temporary ban. He hasn't liked it BUT has respected the ban and is now seeking through the courts, to remove that objection.

So he's using his rightful executive orders and where challenged, he is using the courts. Listen to the media however and he is cutting heads of new born babies.

As to communicating via twitter, wouldn't be my choice but does seem to be the modern way

Every court in the land is standing up to Trump over his ban on Muslims whoops sorry ban on the citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries.....and his response is... 'see you in court'.:dancer2:

Unless he understands that when challenged he needs to explain and justify what he wants to do in a rational manner he isn't going to get anywhere. The impression being given is 'I am the President, do what I say'.

I reallY can't see this ending well for anybody.

The establishment does not like the fact that he intends to drain the swamp as he puts it and appear to be doing everything possible to frustrate him. He correctly said see you in court to a judge who refused to reinstate the ban.

Or is 'the establishment' stopping him from running out of control?

Personally I am fearful of anyone who makes a habit of litigation - his business life was littered with it (and 'out of court settlements', ahem). It smacks of bullying to me.

Fuel to the fire...

When was the last time a corporate CEO cared for the people, other than screwing them for a dime, great to have such a person running a country.
Trump got elected on inward looking popularism rather than paternal responsibility and collaboration or a common good. There are a couple of differences between the UK and the USA that should be considered in being insular ( Brexit for the UK) The USA can feed and fuel itself - it could choose to ignore the world and survive without it. On the other hand the UK can neither feed its self or fuel itself, we are dependant on others for this - piss off those that we buy our food and fuel from and what do you think will happen - at best it gets expensive.
As to rule and control ourselves- well we can control non eu related immigration so just adding eu to that immigration control problem wont help - it'll cost more to carry out - so we'll need more money to do that - where are we (the UK ) going to get more money from ?
I can see the point of brexit from an internal to county trade perspective to a point, those not dealing with trade outside the country care not for rules that hamper their trade to a point, assuming they do not have to buy or sell anything outside (or - careful - dependant on anything outside the country...) and assuming the rest of the country still has disposable income to buy things from this trade market.
Remember to sell into any other country you will always have to meet their standards and legislation, and pay for it.

Brexit no one really seem to understand a) what it was, b) more importantly what it will actually mean, if someone does then please put it on bill boards in clear black and white, then you, I and 'we' might wish to reconsider if it is what 'we' actually want.

Its rather like the SNP ans Scotland wanting to go it alone (but no doubt still bankrolled by someone else). Someone worked out that for Scotland to be (financially) independent the average wage of workers would have to be ~£33K based on current taxation to be self sufficient, if less than £33K then tax would have to increase. Shame the average income is only ~£27K, so that means that every average worker need to pay an additional taxation amount based on the £6K gap just to break even) that's assuming that they have everything in place to run the country, e.g. their own equivalent of HRMC, Passport, DVLA etc. and any other such services that are not currently in place, if not then need the capital / revenue and time to implement them (i.e. they'll need to increase revenue / taxation to do this) just like the UK and brexit where a lot of health, safety, social legislation comes from the UK will have to put in place £Ms,

Oh dear, unfortunate facts?

Hohum,
