Keep toying with the idea of buying myself a decent DSLR, but whenever |i do, i remind myself that I don't even know what half the settings on my 6 year old Fuji bridge camera do, so a DSLR would only complicate things further.

While i took photography at school & was a keen amateur pre digital, developing & printing my own work, when I had the money for decent kit, I didn't have the time, so over the years became more of a 'point & click' photographer.

maybe in July, when i finish my current job, I might think again.

Yarp..Done plenty of my own developing
and printing in the past, monochrome.
Never ventured into colour as the good enlargers are a tad pricey. Still got the gear, but all boxed up. Not worth ow't now, same as my old slr's.

Shutter count wasn't disclosed but camera looks in very good condition! Didn't buy on E-Bay it was from a specialist camera sale auction room!

I had a Nikon dx600 (if I remember rightly) basically for taking photos of the horses we were selling, every picture I took did not meet Bev’s exacting standards so I sold it.
I have an excellent compact Sony that I never use as I just use my phone now

Should be good for 100000 actuations.
Don't think you can check with the cameras menu system?
Although you can get a firmware hack.
Magic lantern. This hack will let you explore other uses in your camera.
Time lapse photography etc.
I installed this on an old canon 50D.
Just intrigued me as to what it actually
unlocks and bypasses manufacturers build. Warning it is not endorsed or approved by Canon, but if you wish to install the hack? It will not harm the camera and you can uninstall at anytime.

I sold all my darkroom gear when chemicals and paper became hard to get locally
3 enlargers, timers, exposure meters etc etc etc.. sold the lot for £35 to a lad just starting.. A few months later he was evicted from his house and left the lot there..
Driving past a while later there was a skip outside.... with the enlargers sitting on top of the pile... made me feel right sad

All that developing and your history.
I would have dived in the skip and claimed it back.

I don't know how you would stand now with Covid but have a look around for a college course.
I've had a camera since I was about twelve, as you say, I learnt most of what little I know during the age of film.
But a couple of years ago now, I signed up for a college night school course.
Didn't know what level I was at, as I'd always done things on my own, so I went in at the basic level, 1 term course.
Followed it up with the intermediate and then 'advanced' during the following terms.
Whist I would say they probably didn't teach me anything I didn't already know the basics of but things became clearer after
putting it into practise as a group.

My main aim of going was to learn Lightroom and Photoshop but unfortunately the 'Old dogs, new tricks' saying proved itself to be true.
As a person that first picked a camera up in the era of film, I am still a beleiver of 'you should get it right when you take the picture' and not rely on software.

I did an 'A' level 'remember those?' in photography, night classes in the late 90's. A 2 year course which gave me valuable skills in developing and printing.
Then along comes Digital and put a massive learning curve trying to interpret
and convert chemical manipulation into
digital manipulation...still can't get my head around some pc processing?
So...I try my best to get the picture right in the camera before any post processing.

Mine was O'Level back in 1979. Kept up photography until the my early 20's. Digital manipulation I'm not too bad at as part of my job as a learning designer consisted of image manipulation, although the few digital photos I take, I prefer not to edit them, unless it's cropping.

I've also been looking on-line at digital cameras whenever I've had a little time today.
