The Fastest??

Other faster bikes?

I was under the impression that the new CBR1000, GSXR1000, ZXR1000, R1 has a higher top end speed than a Blackbird.
Does anyone know whether this is fact or fallacy?

I thought all the CBRs/ GSXs/ZX10s/R1s...04 models were all restricted to 185 mph, but I didn't think the Blackbird had the same top end as that... or do they?
Cheers Paul.

The carbed Bird was timed at up to 187mph in most tests

and the 2001 model was timed in august 2001 by performance bikes at 170.5mph top speed
10.75secs@135.04mph for the standing 1/4

""Newer machines are restricted to a speedometer reading of 185 which in practice is 15-25 mph less, therefore the restriction is to about 160-165 in reality""

So thats why 30 mph seems so slow!!

its alright having a bike that'll top 170, but where in the WORLD nowadays can you LEGALLY go that fast, and I'm talking regular type roads not race tracks, :dunno:

Ive also heard "dunno how true" that the Autobahns in Germany are being "restricted" as well nowadays,!!

I knew not all Autobahns were "unrestricted", the point I'm attempting :bang: to make is that the entire world seems to see "slow" is the way to go,!! more so now, than ever before, :dunno:

Why? It is a "Production" bike & not mass volume.

Fastest.

I still can't beleive the diffence between (as posted) the carbed 187 mph version and the injected version of 170 mph as being so big....Its not that bigger gap is it.
Cheers Paul

BIKE has it quoted at 173mph for the 2001 model in oct 2001, in the new bike section and in the used section (carb) it says good for 186mph

Nurnburg ring last year down the straight 184 mph, on 2002 Blackbird.

Ran out of road before limiter kicked in.

Should have come out of the last corner faster, but couldnt remember which was the last corner.

Mate on a GSXR speedo read 170mph going down the straight.

So I assume that the MPH does read 15mph faster as suggested.

Will have another go this year.

As some on here know I do the occasional speed weekend thing..
The fastest my carb one ever did ( one way speed using timing lights and radar, then taking the mean average between the two ) was 184.6.
Thought to be fair there was a fairly stiff old tail wind that day.

After three attempts on different days the best I have had out of my 2000 EFI is 174.2 ( both in stock trim )

Considering the injected bike does worse gas miles and is slower, how on earth can the green people still insist that injection is better for the environemnt !

Time to bin cats and injectors and get back to proper zorsts and inlet things !

Ahh,, no,, the point I make is not that the carb one is faster, but is more efficient doing better gas miles and therefore is nicer to mother earth :p
