BIKE has it quoted at 173mph for the 2001 model in oct 2001, in the new bike section and in the used section (carb) it says good for 186mph

Nurnburg ring last year down the straight 184 mph, on 2002 Blackbird.

Ran out of road before limiter kicked in.

Should have come out of the last corner faster, but couldnt remember which was the last corner.

Mate on a GSXR speedo read 170mph going down the straight.

So I assume that the MPH does read 15mph faster as suggested.

Will have another go this year.

Andrew

Hi WM, the Blackie speedo is way out. Mine was reading 200mph while the datalogger said it was 178mph - over 11% over-reading!

Have fitted a Speedo Healer which reads correctly, fastest I've seen is 182mph correct speed.

The last corner at the Nurburgring is the second of the two right handers after you exit Kleine Karrusel - the Little Carousel. Might see you there this summer

Anyone know exactly what the top speed was of the V&M 1200 Blackbirds? :dunno:

Don't know what the "real" top end is....but I've seen an indicated 191 on two occasions, and a boatload of high 180's. (Hey, the desert is good for straight lines, gang!)

I know the speedo isn't right, but seeing the big numbers on it is gratifying enough to me. I don't care how fast it really is.

We all win.

Not being a technical bod....My next fastest question is.(slight tangent)
I have a 2004 dfi model.... I have replaced the standard cans for race one's and fitted a Power Commander. So I beleive its now unrestricted. Is it now the same power as the carbed model, as it's not got the emmision thingy,.. if you get my drift.

Hi Graph, I doubt very much if your DFI model (does that stand for diesel fuel injection) is faster than a carbed bird if it's not blue :lick: :lick:

its alright having a bike that'll top 170, but where in the WORLD nowadays can you LEGALLY go that fast, and I'm talking regular type roads not race tracks, :dunno:

you'll do well to hit 170mph on any track in the UK mate
