Just for a change, anybody fancy taking a run into Scotland for a day run or perhaps even better an overnighter, maybe Edinburgh or somewhere else?

Scotland is not as far as you think and there are some great roads, even in the south. To give you some perspective, from my gaff in Lancaster it?s only 165m to the centre of Edinburgh (70miles to the border), or to put it another way, 2.5 hrs in a car. We do 200-300 miles on an average ?cloggers? day run.

Anyway, just thought I?d run it by you all. As for dates, maybe back end of September or early October some time. Let me know what you think folks.

 well actually, Karen and myself were thinking about bailing out when people head back south. We thought we may catch a fast ferry from Stranraer and spend a couple of days touring around Northern Ireland!

Hiya girlies

Sorry for the delay getting my shit together on this one. It's been a tad busy again of late, compounded by Karen having a 'dusting accident' on the stairs whilst cleaning my fossil and rock collection.

I promise I'll get the outline of something sorted in the next couple of days.

ANY ROOM FOR A VIRGIN

Hi I`am the virgin member and would be interested in tickling the tonsels of my little birdie for a few miles ,especially when it bridges that great North - South divide. It will be interesting to meet some fellowThrottle Bashers. c7u8

Right, I?m still trying to get act together on this, primarily a problem sorting someone to look after my lad for the weekend so that Karen can come along. However, childcare could take days to sort out so rather than leave it all to the last minute lets have a go at organising something?..

So, how about a night in Edinburgh on the weekend of 2nd/3rd of October?

The outline plan, and I?m open to other suggestions here, is that we get to Edinburgh early Saturday afternoon(ish) to give us chance to get settled in the accommodation and do a bit of sightseeing (this also means that people coming from the south don?t have to set off to early on Saturday morning).

I?ll sort out an ?interesting? run up there and meeting points when I get some idea of who is coming from where. On Sunday morning we could do one of several things, go for a run somewhere, do a bit more mooching around, or both. I suggest however that we should make tracks back south at lunchtime(ish) so people can get home in reasonable time.

There are several ?biker friendly? B&B?s with parking in Edinburgh at reasonable rates ( http://www.hartside.com/accom/edinburgh.html ). If there are only a few people heading up for the weekend I don?t mind sorting the accommodation, if there?s loads of you then you can fend for yourselves!

Is this the makings of a plan?

Paul, your timing is crap mate :bang:

Literally minutes before picking up your latest posting I'd just confirmed spending a weekend at a friends over in Yorkshire that weekend. So, I'm afraid we're going to have to bow out this time .... bugger :bang:

Karen says my timing is normally very good! Anyway, this is a bit of a bummer m8.......would a change of weekend help? I simply plucked this date out of thin air.....

My shift pattern has me working every weekend in October bar the 30th and 31st :xm

6th and 7th of November is good too but I suspect Scotland will be under 3 feet of snow by then

Would be free the 9/10th, but if the original dates are better for everyone else then don't mess everything up just for us Paul.

A cloggers run would just not be the same without you m8, we need our illustrious leader!

OK, October 9/10th it is then......I propose this to the house, all in favour say 'aye'.

Excellent, it looks like we have the makings of a plan! It?ll be great to meet up with familiar and new faces. The good news is that Karen can make this run for a change.

Clive, please by all means take a look at some routes. It seems there are folks coming from all over the place so meet-ups could be tricky to plan.

I was thinking that perhaps us lot in the northwest could simply head up the A6 to Penrith, then cut a diagonal over the tops via Alston to somewhere around Hexham and meet up with those coming up the east-coast and from the north-east. We could then head north to Edinburgh on the A68. As an alternative, I suppose we could pick up on the A7 and meet up with folks somewhere south of Edinburgh. I haven?t even thought about a route back yet. Anyway, stick your thinking cap on. Other suggestions gratefully received.

I?ll start checking out accommodation when we are a bit surer of numbers in a few days.

Just A Thought

But if we know in advance who's
attending
maybe we could get a block booking for B&B
somewhere
Never Know we may even get a discount
(Then again it is Scotland)
failing that I'm sure Av8tor would put us ALL up for the night lol

(Just Jesting Kenny) R#?

Ok, I've started to look at accommodation in Edinburgh. Clive has sent me a list of confirmed/unconfirmed attendees so I'm checking availability at a few places based on these numbers.

Once I've sussed out what is free where I'll post up the info and it will be up to you to make a booking. I hope to have all this info by tomorrow night.
