?6/7 then replace it, Petros.

You are right mate, I will do something about it another time...I haven't had the time to try and clean, as you suggested, the solenoid (I have found them on ebay for 6-7pounds brand new) but

Just cutting the feed and earth wires, wouldn't it do it? If not, it sounds like a major operation. Dont take me wrong, by following common sense like "be methodical" is definetly the answer.
Learning but not too fast! c7u8

If you are talking about the alarm here then it is all or nothing. Take it out completely or leave it alone. The bike will NOT run if you just cut the power and earth to the alarm. It wouldn't be much good as an alarm if it did. 8rfl@

Hey Bill

How come my bike will not start properly from the start button in the morning, we established that the solenoid relay needs changing (ordered one) but

then, it works fine after I by pass the solenoid (first time).........and it will do for half an hour or more :bang::bang:

I thought that if the solenoid is knackered, that's it, it is knackered or isn't it

No mate.
When the engine is cold the starter draws a LOT more current..
Once warm the cranking amperage is only about 30-40% of a cold start..
So knackered contactors only have to handle about a third of the first time start draw

Strip down, repair and polish.....possibly! Depends on the type of solenoid but usually yes. :-0)

Yes John Why not Greece. . .had many a good time there (Stalis mostly) made a few friends and had a good laugh. :yo: @tu*

We both love Greece.. Love the people, love the whole Greek way of life.. BUT !

It is a LOOOONNNGGGGGG trot and would mean going over the Alps in mid winter.. Only a couple of passes reliably open, ( The Brenner and the Reschen.. and even those get closed if its bad )
Northern Italy can get pretty slippery too.

Favorite things about Greece are of course No12 and Mataxa 3 or 4 @tu*8rfl@

Hi lads

HELPPPPPP

The new solenoid arrived, duly replaced the old one, tried to start the bike and presto: same old shit :bang:

Had to, again, use the jumper lead from + of the battery to the right pole of the solenoid and, you got it, the bike started again like nothing is wrong....

What else could it be? Any ideas? Could it be the starter button? There again, how come it works ok after the bike is turned offffffffff????? I am becoming right desperate now......

I hope you have some new ideas.....

Thanks and sorry to be a pain but there is no other help here.

It's certainly worth a look but could it perhaps be the emergency engine cut button. The switch on my has been sticking on mine in recent weeks and even when in the run position will not make a proper connection. A quick flick- off on off on- seems to sort it. Time for a strip down me thinks.

OK Petros.

Assuming you have put ALL the wires on the new solenoid correctly.......

As John said; Switch the ignition on, in neutral, kill switch on and put a big pair of rubber handled pliers across the solenoid!

Does it turn over and hopefully start? :-0)
