did you have the polished bits laquered/coated or do you spend a lot of beer tokens on polish.

No, there's no lacquer Clive.

Keeping the polished alloy clean is not a problem as long as it's not left for too long in damp conditions. The first winter after the polishing I was away working abroad for about ten weeks right in the dead of winter. Our garage was cold, very damp and the wind just blew right thru it. When I got back, the ally had started to go off - and it took a bit of effort to get it back.

Now that the garage is sealed up and insulated it's not a problem. Usually I have a go at it with some PEEK or BELGOM ALU once every month or couple of months. Takes me about two - three hours.

I know what you mean. I never wanted it to be a " loud,in yer face bike". I just wanted all the mods to be clean, but subtle ones. That's what I was after.
