And fulfill quotas and productivity figures, easy pickings you see, don't even have to talk to the public! It's not the blokes on the ground you should be griping about, it's the ones that insist they do it, a bit higher up the pay scale! :bang:

Insurance and MOT detais are now held by DVLA. The ANPR has about 15 databases on which the operator can turn on or off, most for major crime suspects. When used in my area of North West London the bloody thing doesnt stop activating as 1 in five motorists are not insured or haven't paid red Kens congestion charge. There are about 30 met traffic cars plus loads of static cameras patrolling with ANPR on board. The recent cop killer in Bradford or Burnley that shot those two female cops got picked up leaving that town on a ANPR camera and again when he entered a site in London.

ANPR's

For those not in the know, Insurance companies and MOT testing stations now submit all vehicle details to DVLA.
DVLA database is made avialable to all Police Forces, who download whatever section of it they want to their computers

These files are loaded onto laptops that are hooked up to cctv systems. (covert or overt). CCTV cameras can be mounted in cars wing mirrors and you'll never see them.

The local police force also loads onto the laptops any vehicle registrations they want to search for that may be of intrest to them, i.e. local or national life-style criminals, people who have been reported as missing and last known to drive a certain vehicle, crims wanted on warrant, cars that have driven off from pertrol stations without paying, cars seen near the scene of a crime or anything of loacl or national intrest, IRA, etc etc. Its endless...

Its not just about Insurance or mot you see, so setting up an ANPR site might involve ARV's if the cars they are looking for fit into a certain category.

Get the picture...

ANPR also exisits on all major motorways, the cctv cameras you see are not just speed traps, they can also run ANPR at the same time and we get loads of hits off this, but in the main its major criminals we look for on motorways or stolen cars/lorries etc.

Big Brother is here !!!!

Nowt to worry about then eh?

As long as you're legally driving with tax MOT and insurance

Question is if [in London] 1 in 5 drive without insurnace............

how many of these scumbags are prosecuted?

Not many I suspect

Discuss?

and they were armed, I don't think they were looking for motoring offenders!! More like looking for some crook they thought might be coming their way, or surveillance, or evidence gathering, or something similar.

Cops in traffic car booking illegally parked cars in a Cardiff side street on Tuesday last week were also armed with pistols. Strange thing was, there were two officers both concentrating on ticket writing on a poorly lit street. Made me wonder, if someone wanted to get a gun, all they'd have to do is walk up to the coppers and hit them with weapons that were littering the street (scaffolding tubes and 2 by fours applenty). It really would have been easy.

Anyone know if they were SO19 or are we seeing a shift towards generally arming the police ?

if 1 in 5 drivers are uninsured why do the police get away with targeting speeders when there are so many potentially dangerous cars on the road i.e. no insurance no MOT unregistered don't give a fook about crashing and leaving the scene etc etc.:bang:

ANPR are armed on the way into Leeds in a morning. Well, there is the big tranny van with the cameras (plural) sticking out the back, then further down a rapid response vehicle (probably armed) and always a few armed feds on foot as well as dog vans. Mind you, this in the exit off the M1 down from Beeston where the London Bombers came from. :shooter:

Just another thought on this.. if the M.O.T and Insurance are now fully computerised , whats the betting that you will have to declare a S.O.R.N. on these as well as the road tax if you not using your bike on the road..
two days late in declaring = ?85 each :dunno:
