Hi guys n gals.

Most of you know of Simsie & Bridget who are vital members of the midlands massif. I have the sad task to let you all know, that Al has been diagnosed with having a growth (or non malignant tumor) underneath his brain. He was going to have it removed in about a fortnight through his nose, but the growth has turned out to be larger than first expected....

Both Al & Bridget were due to attend DB's 40th birthday party this weekend with the massiff, but the Queen elizabeth hospital Birmingham has brought the op forward to Saturday morning at 1100hours. Also he will have to have it removed through an opening in the top of his head.

On a more personal note, Jan & I would like to wish both AL & "B" all our love, and tell them that all our prayers and thoughts will be with them during this worrying time.

Jan & I, and Gaz & Tracey are going over to see them both this evening, and will pass on your best for the future.

I have asked Bert to make this thread sticky, so that you will all be able to post your own thoughts, and hopefully we will print it out for them when he is recovering after his op.

Keep safe guys, we need all the freinds we can get,

Loads of love,

Rolfy & Jan

Bloody hell!

Not exactly good news, is it? - on the other hand, it IS good news that he's having it sorted sooner rather than later.

If it helps, a friend had a HUGE growth on her pituitary (which is underneath the brain) which when they removed they had to replace with a lump of her thigh muscle (otherwise her brain would have dropped into the space and would have then had a problem...) and all she moaned about was her leg hurt! Pete, who met her after the event, didn't even know she had had any problems. This was done at the QE with specialist people from the Midlands Neurosurgery unit - so I expect the same will be involved with Al.

So let's hope Al's problems will all be over with by Saturday night. Both he and Bridget will be in our thoughts from now on.

Please pass on my thoughts, and also please do get Al or B to ring me.. Having JUST been thru all this sort of thing with Mo I may well be able to help lay to rest some of the worries Al is suffering at the moment..
From what little info I have had it actually looks like all good stuff.. It might not seem it, but believe me, it really is..
The biggest drag is the terrible tiredness Al will suffer.. It is THAT that takes so long to recover from..
He will be back to being mentally as sharp as a pin within a VERY short time....

just got back......

...from Al & B's. Jan & I went over with Gaz n Tracey. Had a brill time with them both. Al isa still drinking like a fish, and B is still trying (without success) to control him.....

He is due to go into the QE on saturday at 1100, and after some tests and another cat scan is due to be operated on shortly thereafter.

We didnt give them any warning that we were going over, and the surprise visit seemed to lift them both a lot. We will keep you all informed as to Als condition over the next few days, so keep em peeled (as someone used to say)

Just so you know he is (as near to being) normal as he ever was, I have posted a piccy on just below. NB... beer can in hand...LOL

Thoughts & prayers still at the ready,

Loads of love,

Rolfy & Jan

Oh Jesus - Rolfy / Jan please pass on my thoughts and best wishes to both Simzie and Bridget.

It's good news that the tumor has been diagnosed as non-malignant and that the specialists are acting straight away..................I'll be thinking of them with fingers crossed this weekend.............

Let's hope all goes well and Bridget can make the mother of all cakes to celebrate!
