Scottoiler Slipperblock - Fitting photo's

Bought this new Scottoiler add-on from Jaws as my Dual Injector never seemed to oil round the other side of the sprocket, so giving this a try as it's supposed to keep the chain cleaner aswell. Didn't need to use the superglue/cable tie method as it bolts straight under the swingarm on the lower chain slipper bolt, you just need to get the right bend on the supplied galvanised arm.

Anyway, I'm no expert but it's on and it's working...

how does the block fasten again please Bruce ??? what happens when you reverse the bike ??

I can see how the feed pipe is fastened but is the block just wrapped round the chain ??

very tidy idea I must say .. how much does John do em for :p

Thanks for doing the pictures Dave.. greatly appreciated mate :p
This is the big bonus they have over the dual feed thing.. wheel the bike backwards and the slipperblock simply slides over the chain the same as if you are going forward !..

Here is a link to them on my site ,, and it has all the griff on them too :p

The black tubing that goes around the clear delivery tube is slightly thicker and allows the block to float on the chain. The chain just rides back and forth through this silicon block, it's just capillary action that draws the oil onto all areas of the chain, without splatter anywhere else supposedly.

I've attached some further instructions from Scottoiler.

How do you set the flow rate, on the old nozzle you count the drips in a minute, so how do you do the block?

Err...good question Mick.

I guess you have to go by the wetness of the chain as you can't see the drips anymore, or any overspill hopefully.

I'll be watching my fluids closely over the next couple of weeks!

Thought I would be the first to do this post!!! Did mine somewhat differently - it's horses for courses I guess!

As ever with Scotolier, there seem to be 10,000 bits of which you actually need about 3! And there are about 100 different ways of doing the job!

I went about it a different way as a)I didn't want anything anywhere near the gap between the chain and the chain slider, and b) felt that every other way I considered left the slipper block too near the rear sprocket for my personal liking - no doubt the result of bad memories of a chain jumping off my old F650............

Eventually fitted the galvanised bracket supplied under the bolt that holds the front end of the chain guard to the swingarm, twisted it 45 degrees and then fed the supply tube down the back of the swing arm, cannabalising a piece of the old supply tube on the way. This puts the feed tube directly above the chain and I felt it unnecessary to use the supplied sleeve. Also hid the bracketry neatly out of the way. I'll try and post a couple of pics...............

As for amount of oil supplied, if left running on the sidestand it drips just like the original system and I suspect that no adjustment will be needed. Certainly looks like a better option than the single feed - only does one side of the chain properly, or the twin supply - mine fell off the same as everyone elses..........!!!!!

and here they are!

The last photo is taken from the other side of the bike through the wheel and shows the bit used from the original set up. This works really well as there is room to get a cable tie through as well as the supply tube which keeps the whole thing nicely in place. The supply tube is nowhere near as vertical as it looks - trick of the camera angle - and allows plenty of flexibility.

Had a 20 mile blast in the sun after fitting and all looks well, with a nicely lubed chain. No problems wheeling the Bird backward into the garage either!!!

no disrespect intended!!!! As I said, 'horses for courses' - get 10 people off this site to fix one of these and you will get 10 different ways! Mine will probably get mashed up in the chain anyway.

Must admit it's going to take some confidence tomorrow morning to trust that it's not going to get eaten alive by the big bad rear sprocket!

I'm more worried about the hugger I fitted at the same time!!

At least my chain is cleaner than yours!!:neenaw:

Well I've got mine fitted up and will post some piccy's when it's daylight so they come out nice and clear.

I've read the instructions and come up with a total different fitting method which I think will become evident with the photo's.

Probably a different fitting arrangement on a silver one as the chain doesn't go round as fast as the red ones so oiling not quite so critical......h1d1ng2

Personally i like the silver ones - carb with silver two tone paint as in the above post and full digital dash would be my perfect combination.......if only..........
