well its happened to me......set up block same way as brucewayne, got oil flowing more than normal, went out for test run........checked at 10 then 20 klm then at 50 klm still ok plenty of oil then rechecked at 80 klm........gone, never even felt it go.no damage to anything, just a pipe in the middle of chain dripping oil,
the strange thing is the block must have been at the correct angle as the pipes still siting in the middle of the chain ??. ill ring scottoiler tommorow,.............just not my week .bank card cloned last week, some ones had a good time in italy on me......bastards.

Scottoiler are doing a test installation over the easter holiday period.
Do ring them and tell them what happened, you should get a replacement sent out very quickly :p

What havent they done one before now - sounds like they rushed into production too soon

What i dont fully understand is how does the oil get past the 'O' or 'X' ring whatever as i presume the lube needs to be inside the chain linkage :dunno:

No the oil doesn't need to get past the o-rings. The chain links are sealed by the o-rings and oil is just required to stop them drying out and perishing thus letting the grease inside the link dry out and stop doing its job.

I think MTK's came off too.

Mine is still on...though I must admit the bike has no wheels and has been out of service while Jaws applies some bling!

Will keep a very close eye when things are moving again.

Very surprised that Scottoiler are testing after production????

Although fitted and tested on a great many bikes I would doubt they would try it on every single make and model ever released some how !
I reckon that might be a tad difficult :p

Which is why they are borrowing a bird to try and figure out what is happening,,

Bob, do you have a spacer fitted on the suspension ?

Nosy me!

I took mine to pieces to see how it worked and the rubber block is held on by a screw at the end which screws into the tube thereby "fattening" said
tube. I put a bit of superglue on mine when I reassembled it! 200 plus miles and it's still there!

Firestorm fitting identical to Bluey's XX

I copied Bluey's idea John and it works well so far except that after yesterdays 100 mile round trip the block was sitting on top of the chain and not around it! Still intact and full of oil! I have bent the metal down a bit for clarity in the photos. As well as being bent downwards from the bottom of the swinging arm the metal is also angled inwards, before tightening the lower bolt, to line up with the chain. I have cut the metal down to four holes including two with grommets. Bluey has five on his XX. If the black outer tubing is too short it tends to lift the front of the slipperblock up off the chain so think a bit before cutting. I think that may be why my block lifted off. I don't really see that the black tubing is necessary as the block is held in place by the chain and the feed tube stops it from moving along the chain. I may try removing the black tubing if mine hops off the chain again. If that doesn't work I have plenty of black tubing left to lengthen the gap between the metal and the block. I suspect that the ones that have been eaten by the sprocket may be due to insufficient oil lubricating the rubber and so friction increased until the drag of the chain won. I suspect that the owners were left with a tube with two feed holes and the end screw! I suggest undoing the screw before fitting, pushing a nose of the tube out and adding a touch of superglue and pulling it back in quickly before the superglue sets. Reinsert the screw and Bobs your Auntie. Bluey's tubing is better routed than mine!!!
