Saving fairing paintwork

Does anyone have any ideas about how to protect the paint on the fairing lowers when it touchs down in the bendies?
I've heard some talk about sticky back plastic but can't see that lasting too long.
BTW, increasing ground clearance is not an option as it is already jacked up 6mm
cheers

No ideas here mate but i have the same problem as you do, I have a 6mm spacer fitted also.
I've just had top replace my downpipes as I managed to scrape straight thru them whereby putting a nice gorge in them...Nice noise though..lol :}

Might try putting some form of Titanium strip on the Downpipes and a long strip on the bottom of the fairing.

Yeah, titanium would be cool:D
I thought about fitting another set of thin shrooms to the lower fairing bolts as this is where it's getting buggered most (see picture) but that kind of defeats the object. Need to do something though, this wil cost me a fortune in paint jobs and engine casings!

Looks Cool

Proves you can ride. XX Scraper and I have same marks, was thinking of painting them but will probably just paint a large white arrow pointing to them.

Answer is get yourself some knee sliders add to the fun. :D

us UK boys like it horizontal

Have you got your crank cases down as well, now that?s showing off!
It is a bit off a problem though as eventually it will wear through the plastic and the fairing will drop off?.LOL.
What is needed are some low profile shroom?s that can be replaced regularly. The danger is if the back tyre lifts through grounding out and loses traction, so really you don?t want anything extra down there. What do you do, it?s a catch 22.
Oi Honda re-design me a fairing, us UK boys like it horizontal?LOL again

Good 'ole BT010's front & back.
Fitted them about 2000km ago, pretty impressed with them!

I can make any size of shroom you want . You just tell me how thick you want them and I will machine them up for you.
I will even supply the first pair for free :)
However....... I am def. NOT gonna recomend them to be used for such a thing. I personally think its a WAY dodgy idea and is likely to end in tears. Sorry folks ..
The idea of attaching a thin strip of titanium is much better... But not too thin guys.. It will get fookin hot and will melt the fairing !

Get down Mr. Brown

I think your right Jaws, way too dodgy maybe jacking up the suspension might help but I fear even that won?t do the trick. We have just gotta stop leaning that far over, I?m gonna get some hard as nails touring tyres that will last forever and slow me down on corners ? that should do the trick??LOL

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I don't like the idea of the 'shrooms because of the potential for digging in. A strip of titanium might work but not sure where best to put it - if you look at the photo's the scratches cover a pretty big area.
I was thinking of getting some stick on carbon fibre sheet and making a 'belly pan' over the paintwork - anyone know where you can get this stuff?

I notice you too don't have hero blobs in, I have been through 3 sets and got bored of replacing them. Still its cheeper than re painting fairing i guess.

I actualy want titanium blobs but can't find them anywhere. They are supposed to be shorter but just long enough to save deckin the decor. Jaws please find me some!!!

Get some Knee Sliders, its heaps of fun and gives you a gauge of how low you can go. I think hanging off enables you to get round corners quiker anyway due to wieght being lower. It might just feel faster due to the fact ya arse is 12 inches from the tarmac.

Idea

Buy a sheet of alluminium or titanium(ally a lot cheaper). cut shape of required bellypan slider/guard.
If ya bought a big enough sheet-cut loads of spares.

Next- buy a roll of self adesive velcroe(twin rolls,male/female with double sided tape on back) - stick velcro on back of ya newly made scratch plates & on desired part of belly ban.

There ya go - Scrape-em,peel off & chuck/show down pub,Stick on replacement set.

What do ya think ???

Doc.....
I actually left the hero blobs in place but they ground down so easily I just ignored the grinding noise after a while and they just wore away. Knee sliders in place, go through them quicker than the hero blobs LOL (see piccie)

Ben...
sounds like a fine idea but how the hell would you get it in he right shape? - think of the sparks though, woohoo!!!

Its all to do wiv weight displacement!

Fook I sound technical don't I.

You don't have the whole weight of the bike resting on ya knee. Also you are not lent over quite as far.

Belly pan is last thin between you and hopital. If you get addicted to scraping belly pan like pegs it won't be long before back wheel traction decideds to give up.

I once did it on a Honda CB500 lent over on n/s peg it was great fun till back wheel lifted off floor and i re designed the petrol tank round a lamp post.

Well guys - sounds like my ideas are shite !!

Andy - as for the shape ? - I guess ya have to look at the damage on ya bellypan and kind of judge what size to cut ya slider down to.

Well - I'll be honest and not give ya any bull-I've never scraped me bellypan, have done the pegs though-But I can't get the hang of this knee down malarky.I can't use sliders as the top of mi trailie boots cover where they should be.

I can lean quite a way but need someone to ride out with and show me what it's all about.
