Have you thought about the Garmin Quest if you dont want to spend the
Zumo money ??

designed for bikes(waterproof) and software is time proven solid as a rock unlike the zumo's I may add... :-0)

For all the times I'm gonna use it I really can't justify ?450, I could buy 3 sets of tyres for that!

Tomtom

For what it's worth I've had a Tomtom Rider for a few years now, it's proved to be an excellent piece of kit. Mine is the V1 but they've bought out the V2 now.

As I understand the Tomtom has free updates, Garmins have to be paid for.

Plus there is also a thing called mapshare - a lovely system which allows you to update the database with changes to roundabouts, traffic lights, no entries etc.. then when several people have confirmed the same changes your maps are updated in your sat nav.

You pays your money.. bl4hbl4h

I have got a Navman N20 and it is a superb bit of kit. I have reccomended the Navman to a lot of people and most have brought one. My daughter has just got the Navman S30 which superceded the N series and it is every bit as good as my N20. Hope this helps.

bought an S80 a couple of weeks ago from Halfords, was on special offer -paid about ?130.

Thanks for all the replies. Been away all week so not being ignorant just out of the way. Walking into work this morning (Bristol) and the bloke rides past on a CBR 600. Snow/slush all over the road! A better man that me, or he was on a promise?

As a cheap trial I bought one of these it isnt waterproof and not designed for bikes but for ?45 what do you expect?

I use the car mount that came with it and locate it on the underside of the screen and I fitted a safety lanyard in case it falls off, which it has a couple of times in the cold. Reading the reviews I found a link to put Tom Tom 7 software on it with European maps. So if people are looking for a very cheap option and are prepared to improvise then this maybe useful. I have also used it a couple of times in the pooring rain and wrapped the unit in clingfilm, worked a treat :-0) If you reduce the brightness the rechargeable battery lasts easily for a couple of hours. I have also made up a 12v power lead to wire it into the bike electrics using the in car charger also supplied. :p

tomtom rider v1, cannot fault it, very quick to pick up when you take a wrong turn & it either gets you to turn round or finds an alternative way

Zumo is great for Europe - I did use to have the TomTom Rider, and I preferred that for the UK.

I went down the cheapskate route and got a RAM mount for my Garmin Nuvi 300. The satnav isn't waterproof but it's good enough for the (very occasional) use it'll get. I couldn't justify forking out a hill of money on a Zumo for the amount it would get used.
