Got to feel some sympathy for them, they rely on charitable donations but I have seen there is a campaign to get people to stop donating until they stop rescuing illegal immigrants

As well as risking their own lives, the illegal immigrants are putting the lives of volunteer lifeboat crews at risk. Of course, one of this would be necessary if Les Collaborateurs pulled their f’ing fingers out.

When I first heard about it I thought “lives will be lost if funding stops” then I looked at it from another angle, you pay your donations to keep this service running, they send a lifeboat to rescue 20 illegal immigrants in a dinghy, meanwhile a young kid is drowning because there isn’t another lifeboat spare (extreme scenario) how many of those illegals will come to our shores & commit serious crimes so they will be jailed & stay in the Country?

Does anyone ever stop and ask why these people are risking their lives? No doubt there are some who want the ‘luxury’ of living in a society that will support them financially but the majority are running from poverty and/or horrors that we can’t begin to imagine. Many will end up falling into ‘modern day slavery’ (estimated at over 100,000 in Britain at present), they are stepping into the unknown.

Total respect to The RNLI for what they do.

Total disrespect to the idiots campaigning against them saving any lives, regardless of the circumstance.

Total bollocks Andy, we are not by any means the nearest safe country for them but we are the most benevolent, many of these illegals are wanted for crimes in their own Country & due to their nature it isn’t long before they are raping & murdering in our Country, a British Prison is a better option than one in their own Country.

" Due to their nature it isnt long before they are raping & murdering ".... straight out of the Tommy Robinson playbook.... got any independent evidence for that assumption derek ?

Re-read what I put “many of these are wanted for crimes in their own Country & due to their nature it isn’t long before they are raping & murdering” it is not an off the cuff remark, it is based on my experience in the Prison service, one was actually heard on the phone telling his brother to come over & rape a woman as a British Prison is better than a hotel in their Country, a few weeks later his brother was over here & raped a woman.

Wow.

Does that apply to say Ugandans that left their country to get away from the Idi Amin regime?

To those that have fled the atrocities in Syria, Angola, Senegal and plenty other countries?

It all smacks of the obsticals put in the the way of the "kindertransport" and the "St. Louis " in the 1930's by the britsh government. Roundly supported by the Daily Mail and a lot of chaps in black shirts..... seems we have learnt nothing.

I have always been a big supporter of the RNLI as they are the one charity who I always believed were beyond reproach (and before anyone says anything, I do appreciate that nobody and nothing id perfect), but this story back in 2018 made people think how petty the hierarchy were when this story was released
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/65070...y-tea-mugs-on-board-wont-get-a-second-chance/

And then it transpired that the CEO was on something like £300K a year but has taken a pay drop of 50%

But then most charities also pay their CEO's top dollar, but it did make many people ask the question of how can a management team be so petty minded against the brave lads and lasses that go to sea in the worst conditions for the benefit of those in danger and at risk.

I think the same applies with the migrants, in that these illegals choose to put themselves at risk, the RNLI are then having to pick up the pieces and get criticised for doing their job though no fault or choice of their own, but the lifeboat crews get the backlash.

I am having a serious rethink about whether or not I want to contribute to the RNLI, without them people will drown, with them illegal Immigrants will continue to pile into the Country, bit of a catch 22.

I once worked with a displaced Ugandan, in his case he didn’t leave the country, he was forced out. He came here with his wife and 4 daughters, they all went to university here and were then doctors, medical type, he then left and set up his own motor dealership somewhere north of Bristol. This would have been mid-70s.

btw, he never insured his cars. He would insure them, go and get the RFL tax disc, and then come back and cancel the insurance.

’what would you say if stopped by the Police and required to produce?”

”I am so sorry, I am foreign and don’t understand” Like hell! He knew every dodge available.

Like TC, I've always had a high regard for the RNLI, but if it's true that they're crossing the Channel to pick up immigrants from French waters then that's beyond their remit and I'd like to know who authorised it.
If it turns out to be a decision taken from within the charity then I won't be putting anymore money in their tins until it stops.

Most of these immigrants have entered Europe via the Med and then crossed several European countries to get to the French coast and then on to us. That tells me two things....

1) They're not being made welcome elsewhere in mainland Europe and are quite probably being encouraged to proceed onwards West. Certainly there is plenty of evidence that the French, in particular, are encouraging this. Given the childish way that the EU has been behaving towards us of late, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if there is an unofficial EU wide "policy" to facilitate this migration in our direction.

2) Britain is quite clearly being perceived by immigrants as being their best option. Now I'd like to think that it's because they see us as being a more tolerant and safe option, but I'm afraid the cynical side of me believes that they see us as the soft option.
Given that most hail from countries which actively despise us then I honestly believe that a large percentage are not coming here to integrate and become upstanding British citizens.

We're a soft touch because it's easy to work in the hidden economy sector, get health treatment etc.

For most European countries you need to have identity papers in order to do anything and can be asked to produce them.

In the UK you aren't required to carry identity and an only be asked to prove who you are in limited circumstances.

We could instantly make it more difficult for them by introducing a requirement for a national identity card.

Hmmmm, I wonder how that might go.

I would be more agrieved by this than thr RNLI picking up migrants.....

Commons Public Accounts Committee on Sunday said that the government is wasting vast amounts of money PPE that is still “not fit for purpose” a year and a half into the pandemic.

Official figures show that overall nearly 7 per cent of all items purchased by the health department have failed quality checks while ministers are spending £6.7m every week to keep it stored.

An eye-watering 2.1 billion items have already been found unsuitable for use in medical settings and 10,000 shipping containers are still to be unpacked.
